the trainer has 2 runners..one is at the top of the weights to make sure his other runner is guaranteed to carry an advantagous physical weight

most times the compressor is top weight but in this instance Fondmort stayed in but Hobbs wouldn't have known that so has left in Farmer Jack ..which now shows his intent to "assist" Monkerhostin.

Henderson can't wait for Saturday to come

by David Carr

NICKY HENDERSON bids to resume his highly profitable Saturday service with Fondmort this afternoon.

He was emphatically the man to follow on the biggest betting day of the week last jumps season, winning a string of top handicaps and becoming a pin-up for punters.

--

Thisis starting to look like a 3 horse "Dutch" !!

Monkerhostin - Tikram - Fondmort !

The "Topspeed" figures tell us little either !

or is Pipe going to upset the "Form" yet again ??

Thanks, but how do you know that Hobbs has now showed 'intent to assist' rather than just fancying Farmer Jack now that he isn't carring top weight.

As it makes a lot of sense to do this and I'm sure a lot of yards carry out this practice, why haven't I heard of it before. What I mean is why dosen't Spotlight mention it or the morning line ect, ect.

I'm sure it is Boozer as it makes good sense.
I suppose I'm still relatively new to horses but I listen a lot to Will Hill radio, the Morning line, read the Racing Post so I'm just a little surprised I hadn't heard it mentioned before.

Would a case of this be in the 2:55 @ Haydock on Sun.

John Joe has Keen Leader giving over a stone away to the rest of the field which includes one of his own, Simply Gifted.

Simply Gifted has run 26 times over jumps, never once over more than 2.5 miles.
Keen Leader has run 9 times on ground with cut in it, winning 7 and tipping up when going well in the other 2. He has run twice at Haydock and nothing has got within hailing distance.
You pays your money and you takes your choice.

While I could go along with Team Tassel I think that even Jonjo would find it hard to explain if Simply Gifted came home ahead of Keen Leader. Just to add to what Johnd has said, just look at the different class the pair have run in.

but also look at the weight difference

look at how bad a jumper Keen Leader is particularly when coming on seasonal reappearance

15/11/02 price 8/15 fell
6/12/03 6/4 UR

this isn't a soft pipeopener, it's a handicap that will be run at a decent clip.

John

I am backing PEROUSE again..just spotted that Rigmarole is a potential weight compressor if RB wasn't there.

I missed TT because of provider probs Frown !

I regard Rigmarole as a genuine trier in its own right, not just shoved in as Fontanesi was for TT in the 135C.

That doesnt stop it serving the double purpose of compressing as well. On the flat D Nicholls does this all the time, compressing with triers, so I dont think its an either/or tactic.
