111, It is obvious to me from your recent posts that the contributions from the majority that post on this thread are of no value to you at all, however that doesn’t mean that others feel the same way, it wouldn’t do for us all to be the same. It only leaves me to ask, why do you waste your time with it?

Barney, John Dunlop is someone worth looking at, particularly at the outset of the season. He has a knack of getting his horses ready and when they show up as class/form types they really do take some stopping.

Chris B, welcome, there has been much talk about Prominent King already on the thread that is worth looking over. I’ll remark on the other points within your post in the near future, suffice to say that this week’s quality racing is taking up my time at the moment.

Just been catching up on the many posts since the weekend. I must say it is disappointing to see the return of the windup merchants such as Three Legs and Jimmy,etc. The only thing I have to say to you guys is this - If you are not interested in VDWs methods and what is discussed on this thread then don't read it. No one is forcing you to click on the VDW thread, in fact it even has it's own category away from the general discussion one now just in case you take a look by mistake!

For those who are interested in civil discussion on VDW, I'd like to make a few points.

Chris B has the right idea by identifying the important points VDW was trying to make. Some of theses points were plain to see, but others were cleverly concealed. It is clear to me that Lee and Statajack are aware of most if not all of the missing factors when evaluating form and class. I'm sure they will agree that whilst tricky to unravel, they are quite simple and logical if you really think about it. This also means that it would be detrimental to broadcast these considerations for all and sundry to utilise because it would become a very accessible and profitable method, even for old Three Brain Cells. There is no foolproof way though, but a very high strike rate is there for the taking.

It is true that horses such as Justafancy and Ekbalco may seem a tad confusing when compared to the likes of Little Owl, Wing & A Prayer or Diamond Edge. The answer lies in how you view form and what makes good form relative to the opposition.

In the Champion Hurdle there can be little doubt who is the class (ability) horse. But for a last flight mishap, Istabraq would also have won his last 3 races. However the form of those wins, despite in decent class races is hardly exciting. Landing Light is 2nd rated on ability and has won his last 3 races. When you look at the form it is more exciting than Istabraqs and he is an improving younger horse. Valiramix is also improved but not to the standard of Landing Light (who beat him at Sandown last April). It's a balancing act as always but Landing Light looks a good prospect to me.

By the way, Investor, I don't mind if you want to email me as others have done. One bit of advice, which you probably have already taken is to ignore the moronic types such as Three Legs and Jimmy who represent nothing worth responding to.

today i would like to put up some more
like a butterfly class horse -3weight but no speed fig no bet
moscow flyer class horse -4lb weight speed fig not bad form fig not bad but i think vdw would not have a bet because of speed fig
istabraq class horse + 4lb bur vdw would not bet because of the increase of weight plus the speed fig
gunther mcbride class horse the speed fig would make you bet the horse but the increase in weight would be a no bet
ideal du bois duery class horse the speed and the form fig would be a bet but the increase of 9lb in weight would be a no bet

Swish - I know you make a hell of a lot of posts and I'm amazed you have the time to respond to every question asked or comment made. Personally I find it better to pick and choose responses to make. Somethings just don't need any further comment I feel, but in answer to your 3 questions I would say yes, when there is something to be found and thirdly, it's of little consequence.

I would say that people need to confirm findings for themselves. I had to go through the process as others have done and I liked what I found.

You started this thread Swish so why not start another and call it the alternative VDW, post YOUR IDEAS on it and leave the dreamers to dream, stick up a few good winners and people will start to see where the truth really lies, and it's not on this thread.
