Investor,

My bet is your betting bank is zero, you don`t know what a bookie is and you`ve just landed from Mars.

Must be time for another fix

fair play 111,guest did post up tips before racing on sat, maybe half a dozen,a lot with negatives also,so no bet.
but INVADER,RUNNING MOSS were class/form horses according to van der valk and duly lost,so why is everybody talking about galapait(winner)and why is nobody mentioning these two,as far as i can gather there was no negatives mentioned about these horses??.
i must agree with 111 though,i also would not back any of these,i would watch with intrest though.
i must also agree with swish,in that guest will not answer questions he is asked.
if you think it will give too much away say so,do not just ignore as if somebody has not said anything.

Determined

I`m a gentleman at heart to, so I trust you enjoyed the walk with your good lady. Perhaps a little disappointing for her that you were talking to the stars (Please God give me a winner)
Never the less, You`re no different from the other star gazers. Post a couple of Pre-Race winners, and I`m gone.

Investor

Nice try at deflection, didn`t work.

Now, I`ll repeat, I reckon (otherwise you`d be a bankrupt) you don`t bet with money, you`re probably a paper trader. I.E no betting bank.

You`d struggle to find a bookie, although they`d love to find you.

How`s the weather on mars? What are you on ?

Look forward to hearing from you shortly

Hi all,

Personaly I seem to struggle with the interpretation of form and the word form as used in the " class/form " combination .
Are they one and the same ?

Very early on in " Narrow The Field " VDW makes a very direct comment regarding form .

" Checking the FORM , P.King was coming out of handicap company where he shouldered a massive 12-7 lto going under by five lengths to Drumgora also in this race on 17lb worse terms .

Mr Kildare, an odds-on winner lto not against much opposition, was set to carry 5lb more. P.King coming out of handicap company with 15lb less to carry and on the same course looked a good proposition. "

In this example breaking down what VDW would constitute as checking out the form it appears there is a big emphasis on weight, other points raised are, the coming out of handicap company, distance btn, wt advantage ( P.King V Drumgora ) and the suitable course.
In Mr Kildare's case exra wt and the comment of winning not against much opposition .

I'm not sure whether this is a direct comparison VDW made between P.King ( coming out of handicap company )and Mr Kildare ( coming out of non/handicap company ) or whether he was refering to the quality of opposition Mr Kildare come up against lto.

Somewhere else VDW said " What is form if it is not that one performance is better than another "
Again I wouldn't know whether this would mean a horse bettering it's previous run or a horse putting in a better performance than the opposition it met.

Finaly, the one I struggle on most would be the form horse as per "class/form" , whilst I can see a lot of VDW's class/form horses had a lot in thier favour a few mentioned have me stumped Gaye Chance and Catch Phrase being two of them.
All the best
Chris

good evening everybody

three legs when reading back through the thread its difficult to see when some horses have been given before the race but they have, since 13th jan when hedgehog gave lyreen wonder(before the race)and his reasoning behind the selection which won as he expected at 100/30,later on that same morning i gave adamant approach which won at 8/1,i didnt give my reasoning, which was there to be seen if the race was studied(i got 12/1).
since then there have been a number of winners put up by a number of people who are trying to use the methods, prince of blues, bank on him and a couple of others its not apparent all the time but they are there, but perhaps they are from the wrong people?? its not easy my friend but there are some big clues on here.
by the way the horses i put up on naps are based on methods learned on this thread.(although not certs)

everybody.

does anyone have the names of a couple of trainers with good solid patterns that i can look at ready for the flat???

Three Legs; Please read my post on Page 52 and stop for a moment.Have you stopped counted to 10?Good now concentrate your energies on doing what`s best for you picking winners on your own terms.Believe me this is futile.

If you read Guest's Saturday post carefully you will see that one thing he most certainly was NOT doing was giving tips. He was giving his understanding of the "class/form" horses in a number of races, which is quite different.

Barney

Might I suggest Paul Cole? I certainly don't claim to be able to follow all his moves, and I think he has sometimes failed to get the most from some goodish horses - Brilliant Red for one. But he does seem to have some fairly settled patterns, including his placement of 2yos in nurseries. He is certainly a more straightforward proposition than Tony Newcombe, and has much better class horses.

Barney,

What does your insight tell you about moscow flyers chances, as I see it as having a good chance but at a price which can also be taken e/w?

Relax, the wife`s gossiping next door, I`m having a bit of, well, to tell you the truth I`m trying to improve on my keyboard skills.

However, I shall reply to Barney. He and I haven`t
been in touch for a while, but I`m sure he knows why. But that will be tomorrow.

Yours

Good evening,

Several years ago I did very well following one or two trainers most notably M Stoute`s handicappers.

Between now and the start of the flat I`ll be putting in alot of time into studying one or two trainers.

One I firmly believe will prove fruitful is M Johnston. I base this on no hard fact but I`m pretty confident he`ll be well worth following.

M Tregoning maybe a/n worthy of attention.

*** I am not a subscriber to Flatstats but I bet there`s some excellent info` on there.

Regards and good luck at Cheltenham,
