Well done for spotting Royal Rebel yesterday, Persian Punch is just starting to struggle now.

Today Gossamer seems pretty sound in the Coronation Stakes, slight doubt about the going, but I'm not sure they'd run her if they were worried. In form and proven at the top level.

I don't normally dabble in the Queen's Vase but I'm on Old California, who has the improving profile that is favoured in this race. A maiden win followed by a handicap win, and the step up in trip should benefit.

6 points cover the whole field on Postmark ratings which suggests the race is too difficult.

That said, I have a reasonably strong view, ie - Aker Wood and Court Shareef will fight the finish.

you were right about Gossamer.the class/form horse doesn't always win,

against todays opposition inthis race it had no chance

just missed your post last night,sorry

if the going had been good, good/soft or soft it still would not have won.

some horses were better irrespective of her class rating.

the class/form horse should only be supported if its the best horse in the race.

i have said this before and didnt get much response so here goes, ability rating, class rating,form figure rating,official rating and speed figure rating are all pointers to real form and class. they are not the be all and end all.

some like ROG and HC are the absolute best horses in the race, some others are not they have just won a lot, gossamer just met her waterloo.

have you got the books?try letter 36 para,s 11 and 12.

also para 10 shows the difference between ability and an ability rating.
