Dear Max,
I think it is NATIVE SPEAKER or MOUNT PRAGUE, BUT as we talked last night I don't think either is a cert,
All the best,

Hello All,

Whats happening here! I've just read 64 -66 and the only time anything reasonable was posted was in response to Max or about Mistletoe.

This is getting out of hand. Soon there will be nothing but people tearing strips off each other and who suffers, we all do!

Let talk about what interests us all, horse-racing. We can all learn from each other.

I'm not taking sides but I'm heartily sick of reading insulting posts that teach me nothing.

Max - for Gods sake, keep posting!

Seriously worried

Hi Hedgehog

Don't worry - this is a regular occurrence when VDW is discussed, whether in the old Sporting Chronicle Handicap Book, private forums like the VDW Methodology Group, or public ones like this thread and ones on other public boards.

Some of those who don't find VDW's work of interest somehow seem unable to ignore it and get on with exploring ideas more to their tastes. Some of those who do find something of value in VDW's work seem unable to resist rising to provocation, and appearing mysterious and/or arrogant in the process.

But life goes on, and on this thread there are enough people in neither category to suggest that, at its own pace, a worthwhile conversation will continue.

Hello All,

Hope you and yours are well and happy.

Fulham - I hope you view is the case. I'd like to think its just sparks generated by the interaction of obviously able minds.

Investor/Determined/Guest/Barney - I've just read 50 - 53. I think I finally twigged. I spent the last 2 days checking one approach when I knew what you meant all along. It's all a matter of emphasis or at least I hope it is. I've just got to check the stated races.

Going back to the Saturday before last I thought GDM the likely winner but with weight against. So it would have been a no bet for me. I thought Billingsgate the only bet of the day. More fool me!

Sorry if this is old news but I'm catching up. Hopefully by this Saturday I'm be back on track.

All the best

Mtoto/others - Mistletoe made her debut at Towcester on soft ground in December 1999 running 2nd in a bumper to a previous winner after leading till the last 1/2 furlong. She then returned to Towcester for another bumper on heavy going failing by 6 lengths giving 7lb to the 2nd favourite, an expensive Pipe newcomer. This hardly constitutes not handling the going to my mind, in fact the opposite appears to be the case when taking into account form and class. She didn't win a hurdle race, but progressed nicely enough over fences without winning before a short break and a change of address brought about a win that was better than many thought in relation to the Uttoxeter race. Taking things at face value is a dangerous game where horse racing is concerned. Mistletoe is a case in point.

Order, Order, Order.
This thread is about VDW and his methods and everyone has their own opinion about VDW which they are entitled to, but it is now starting to get personal.
Could we please stick to the subject gentlemen and leave out the slagging I never thought I would have to say this on the VDW thread but any message that I consider not in the spirit of VDW will be either edited or deleted.

Well said Gummy

I couldn`t agree more and I sincerely hope they don`t bring their petty squabbles and poor taste over to the other threads.

It’s nice, Three Legs, that you finally agree, even though it has taken a few stern words from the Head to persuade you.

All that’s left to say is, if you do change your mind, and in the future you feel that VDW is something you’d like to learn more about, then don’t hesitate to return as I can assure you, you won’t find a more knowledgeable bunch of people anywhere on the net, when it comes to VDW.

All the breast.

235 s

has anyone an opinion on this race

i feel it shows up some useful pointers that may be of use in the future.

the form horses from first 7
red delerium 7
nassua night 12
city fler 12
harvey leader 14
no mercy 14
kumakawa 14

on inspection of the form

red delerim ran a close second in a 0-60 £1700 slow run race carying 11-3 now off 10-00.OR 60

nassau night ran a close third in a 0-85 £4000 fast run race carrying 8-4 now off 8-5. OR 60

city flyer ran a poor 9th(when fav) in a 0-70 £2380 average race carrying 9-5 now off 9-10.OR 60

harvey leader ran a close 3rd in a 0-65 £1772 slow race carrying 9-10 now off 9-8. OR 60.

no mercy close third in a 0-60 £2331 slow race carrying 9-7 now off 9-8. OR 59.

kumkawa won a 0-60 £1687 slow race off 9-00 now off 9-10 OR 53.

all well and good
now consider the OR where all horses would be rated from the max of 60 at 10-00.

here is the annomaly nassau night gets 23lb off 1 horse rated as equal by the OR. it has been running in higher grades than these and for more money yet it even recieves weight from a horse rated 30.

this may well be something to consider when using OR.

i hope i am not trying to tell anyone how to suck eggs.

good luck

Barney - The race at Southwell is not one to consider using the consistency method. Applying the basics shows up lots of conflict and finding any good form from a horse with the required attributes is virtually impossible. Obviously Nassau Night has shown something in better class but the race is not one I'd be interested in.

Remember the consistent horses are not form horses by definition.
