If you had cared to check, you would have noticed that I was successfully arbing back in March 2002. Again my own selections, not Pricewise. I was saying then that as Betabet were posting lines the night before the opportunity was there, if you knew what you were doing, if you are knowledgeable enough you can recognise when a line is soft and don’t have to rely on Pricewise. Obviously a bit too far advanced for you at the moment, but never mind, someday you might understand

Just to avoid any confusion, Idle Power was easily arbed at 1.5 for the win, 0.65 for the place. Downside nil; upside considerable, but of course Pricewise's strike rate is quite low, so one can go weeks between pick ups. Still, can't grumble this week: two so far.

Pip, pip.

If you go weeks between pick ups don't you think it would make sense to learn how to do it yourself without relying on someone else. Although I realise this may be beyond someone of your limited capabilities, with a bit of work you might manage to break even. Probably better than you are managing at the moment

Dont take the piss, the guy's spent 20 years on VDW, how long do think it'd take him just to change his face no matter feeling the wind.

I have searched back looking for how you find the C/F horses in a race, but with the amount of pages its very hard to locate.
I have a fair idea of how you do it but would like -if you dont mind your precise method/s of this function of your methodology.
Everyone else
To my mind VDW does work-in the way I apply it.
Not every race will have a winner in it but if you use the method wisely until you see a horse with no or very few dangers-it does work, although most success to me comes in better class races.I do not have the time these days to apply the method as I am very busy working up to 14 hrs a day running my business.Even if I took off 6 hrs a day working I still would not make as much dough betting as I would working.
I really miss not being as able to rate good races the way I used to but you must make hay while the sun shines.
I look forward to your reply/s Fulham or Guest.
Must dash and stable my sisters old horse Kambo, who in his day won many gymkhanas and show jumping prizes-even a university award, but the old arthur(itis) is too much now and even on these mild nights he needs to be stabled.
Cheers

Someone has made a CD of Guest's selections. Of course Guest is too modest to say who but if you ask with your private e-mail perhaps you'll get a response.

Bio - The basic idea is the class/form horse is the one that is rated highest on the ability rating of the form horses only. I go through each horse in ability rating order to check if it is a form horse for the race. This does not mean I am just looking for horses who are in form. They have to be in form AND a form horse for the race under examination.

Sorry to disappoint, but even if I had the time and space, I'm not about to explain how I find the form horses. Besides, they keep finishing 2nd at the moment. Wink

Epi - Someone has made a cd of my selections? I hope it's not bloody Robbie Williams? Smile

On the 80% thread I asked contributers to show the strength of relevence within their interpretation of both the ability and consistency ratings, so far I haven't got a response. I think I have an important point to show up here, I would like someone to at the least express an interest in alternative ways of applying the basic tenets of VDW's writings.

Epi - The problem with that last point/idea is that personally, I believe my mistakes are in the finer detail of form interpretation VDWs way. Therefore I don't require a change of direction where VDWs methods are concerned. I am always discovering something a bit extra from his examples, but I know the basics are pretty much as he saw them because I have proved for myself by comparing my findings with his selections.

I know. I'm not saying I'm right, you're wrong or anything on those lines but before I publish my observations on recent selections (apologies but they're yours) I would like to know how much weight the various selectors give to those 2 ratings.

Guest,

Shame on you, using an expletive (before the watershed) to convey the strength of your thoughts at being associated with that tosser Robbie Williams..........don`t you know, Mtoto might have read it.

When I first read those posts of Mtoto I was impressed, it's Swahili for child, the 'human' root is 'tu' in my ignorance I didn't know this was the name of a horse.

And a bloody good one too Epi!! Tony Bin was the only horse ever to finish in front of Mtoto (by just a neck in the '88 Arc de Triomphe) in all his six runs! Probably the best horse 'Mouse' Roberts ever rode.

Any similarity with persons, living or dead, is purely coincidental!!

In the 1960s what did we have? Beetles or Stones. What's the choice now? Wake up to reality.
