It is too early to be commissioning headstones, but if in due course one is needed the names (plural) appropriately on it as the cause of the demise will be quite other.

But Christians believe in the resurrection, which if you think about it gives a very particular purpose to headstones, one that may yet prove entirely apt in this instance.

Dr Fulham,

When the day comes I fear it will have to be a big headstone.

As for Christianity, I`ll discuss that with my Bishop(ess) on Sunday whilst studying her cleavage over the bar.

With the resurrection comes judgement day, I wonder which way your contributions will tip the balance.

That's a matter for the judges who, at that stage, certainly won't include you!

You're right, you'll need to revolutionise your spiritual being pretty thoroughly to stand any chance of effecting the judgement that I've already made.

With 'that race' (The Old Newton Cup) due to take place tomorrow, this thread will presumably move off theology and back to racing!

I made Tarjman a solid VDW bet yesterday. I was right...just, as he shaded Guest's selection Suggestive. Tarjman seemed to have the edge on Ability and was an ultra consistent horse who had progressed with every race.

Well done with Tarjman, I suspect that VDW might have backed it himself, though not because of the arithmetic,
Suggestive had the better form, but was using this race as a pipe-opener, as his trainer implied.
I am surprised, though, that Guest keeps falling for these, despite VDW's clear warning about high class conditions races.
In the ONC tomorrow, Waverley has the best recent form, the question is will this be a stiff enough test for him?

You have no right to say anything derogatory about Guest, fair play to you,You TRIED but you failed miserably,There's a world of difference between 8/12 and 0 from lost count,Before you say it's a tipping competition don't try and blag your way out of the fact that you were using vdw's methods as you percieve them because i for one don't believe you,I know one thing though,Fulham was right when he said you know nothing about these methods. At least the monkey can sleep peacefully tonight.

P.s. There is more VDW in the last 2 lines of my previous post than you could ever contemplate!

For the sake of clarity, I was only referring to your arithmetic - apologies if it proves that its mine that's wrong.

"The map, the description, the monuments of ancient Rome, have been elucidated by the diligence of the antiquarian, and the student; and the footsteps of the heroes, the relics, not of superstition, but of empire, are devotly visited by a new race of pilgrims from the remote and once savage countries of the North."
    Jimmy,
The glories have all gone, the high priest addresses a now empty temple.
The flatters wait for a new object of their attentions and the fantacists await a new lotus plant.
It is all over now, only a halfwit is left to make cavernous echoes amongst its now abandoned chambers.
Bless yourself and go in peace.

"A now empty temple": wishful thinking, or frustration?

You might ponder my post at the top of this page, bearing in mind that, to the Christian, Golgotha is not the whole story.

Fair play to Guest and all for attempting the 80% challenge,It looked impossible to me at the start and with the recent results things can only get better,

Once Guest has posted a few more winners close together the temple will fill back up and you will get the usual back slapping, arse licking and what a brilliant super guy he is,

In this time of despair and frustration all the VDWer's will be resorting to their good books or the other good book as God seems the only help this thread has,

Good luck,Rab

None of those even partially au fait with VDW's approaches can be in any doubt as to the depth of Guest's understanding of the great man's works and examples.

As regards the nub of your post, time will tell.
