re- the ability rating sulamani has run 4 times in his puff so is open to any amount of improvement & has fine breeding for the race hernando & alleged are mentioned in there somewhere , the irish horse is an old hand in the group races now, if they`d sent sulamani over for the king george he would arguably be sitting with 5 wins out of 5 now & a dandy ability rating to boot, they did`nt because they wanted this race for him & the prix niel fits in better with the training, as mr obrien has found out latterly you have to have a fresh horse for these big prized distance races so both will go there all guns a blazing & may the best horse win but high chaparral is no good thing in my book.

Safranine is a very interesting horse in this race. Having run very well in a similar race 3 ago, he was then given an impossible task 2 ago, although he ran very well, LTO he was given an aven bigger mountain to climb, why was the horse entered in these races, was the trainer trying to hjide something?

Having spent 3 hours on this race last night and most of this morning I have taken the early price of 9/2 for Roses in Spring
Not fully convinced but he should go well if he traps, and the form is there for all to see
He has to carry the weight today which I think he can do looking at him on the video

Safranine
Yes he is interesting He came up trumps for me at Hamilton a few runs ago @20/1 albeit a small EW bet Drawn 2 on soft sorry Max/Aceis

Lucayan Monarch
What a stupid distance to run this horse over today,Or is it? Hes half the price of safranine on the earlies confused

Safranine at 10/1 is worth a saver for what it costs just in case today IS the day, which I will take

Boozer.

Roses Of Spring.

This is not the sort of race I usually look at, But as I can't find a bet anywhere else! I did have a good look at Wait For The Will, but the course may be too easy and the pace not strong enough. In fact the race could be set up for Lewis Island, but not a race for me.

I can see where your coming from with ROS, she appears to be improving. I can't see anything as a serious danger below her in the handicap. My main worry would be her strike rate. A plus is her trainer, but he can only be guessing that she will run her race. If she does that should be more than good enough, we know she is fit. There is nothing of the class she has been running against in this race, and only going up 2lbs for the last run looks a bonus. Again not a race for me, but the very best of luck if you play.

Don't worry about my bed time, it's far too late for me to worry about getting any more beauty sleep!!!

safranine-yes but only 10 runners and unusually that day no one went for the far rail all the runners stayed in the centre of the track because previously they all got into trouble with the stewards for not riding to the draw,so presumably the draw was so significant for the jocks to risk suspension proir to that race.
that was a very rare instance though under those conditions and as subsequent results have revealed the jockeys know exactly where they need to be to win the race.

be my tinker-today is the day.

Wait for the will was swinging off the bit 2f out on Sat over the 1m5f.
Looked to be only to be a matter of when
Didnt find as much as you would have thought
Today back to 1m4f
Funny little race though with 3 lightly raced 3yo's in there

Well done Boozer,well picked out.

If anyone is interested,I was thinking of putting up a list at the end of each month,of vdw types, that were put up by members, winners and losers. The idea being that members could quite easily check them out,for research purposes. The selections can be post race also.Any views on this,or is it a waste of time.

I think you have an excellent idea but I would not include after race selections, a methodology that justifies results rather than successfully selecting cant be considered to constitute a reliable selection method.

Boozer.

I must thank you for pointing this horse out. I was not going to back it because I didn't think the trainer could be sure she would run her race. After watching the trainer on the Racing Channel he showed enough confidence that she would/could that was good enough for me. All the hard work had been done, so it was just a case of picking up the phone. I had the bet at 5/1.

Re Wait For The Will.

He needs a stiff finish to be at his best, it looks as if he finishes with a burst of speed. I think it is the stiff finish that gives a false impression, he's not accelerating the others are stopping. This doesn't happen on a flat course. Bet Hughes gets a slagging for the ride!

Thanks again

Wait For the Will

Just goes to show how dangerous the 3yo’s are at this time of the year and earlier
They fought out the finish with a 123

ROS
Had a good day smile
Stuck some more on in the bookies at the 5/1 while I was waiting for my young daughter finishing her piano lesson couldnt resist I thought it would come in to something like 7/2

Ages since I have been in one of those places
Nothings changed

3-30

I have Raphael top rated on experimental ratings.

Trouble is this is a bad race with a lot in this field that have tumbled to a
ridiculously low handicap mark and only need to show 80% of their
previous ability to come out of the woodwork and win this.

Such as Technician who round about this time last year won a 20K
Handicap off a mark of 85 and has tumbled to a mark of 67

Technician has show a weak glimmer of form Lto but no class

Raphael

Blinkers first time Lto didn't work
The time before showed form in good class relative to today's opposition
too many negatives though.

Dont know if he can carry this sort of weight and looking at the video he
doesn't look the part either.
Would be happier if this was 7f at say thirsk based on his running at
Catterick
The Blinkers on Lto dont inspire confidence either even though they are off
Today.

There are others in other races such as
Shifty
Mehmass
Summer Shades

But they are not strong enough to warrant a second look

Wouldnt be surprised to see Raphael or Technician win

Neither would it be a surprise to see the lot go down the pan

Its a no bet at all day for me if Raphael wins then so be it
Missing winners is annoying but has to be accepted as part of the game

All negative stuff but a bit of interest

Henry Hall is a horse that is best with a strong pace and a stiff track, and could have both today. A small each way investement may give a little interest on a dull day.
