Cons Polar Way 3
Crystal Castle 6
Three Points 10
Outside first five in the betting
Acclamation 4
Ability
Acclamation 532
Malhub 455
Crystal Castle 427

Polar Way
Recently won 6f Gp3 at the Curragh with a decent s/f,Has done nothing wrong so far and highly consistent,But now faces his toughest task so far.

Acclamation
Again highly consistent very high ability rating,But not in the class of others will struggle (in my opinion)

Malhub
Outside first 3 cons but has been running consistently in better class,2nd on ability running with 6lb more than last runwhen 2nd in class 1160 but ha won with 9'4

conclusion
Malhub

Also i wouldn't be surprised if Best of the Bests turned over Hawk Wing,This horse is very fast.Only beaten a hd by h.w lto now 3lb better off albeit over 2furlongs less,Good one to watch

investor but for the run on G/S he would be well there on consistency.

yesterday the jocks reported the going report was false it really was riding g/s on round and good in straight.

Perhaps I have missed something, but I am intrigued as to why you ignored Crystal Castle in your summary.
Despite his group 1 win, I have a suspicion that Malhub is a short runner at 6f at the top level, and he may struggle to last home if there is a serious pace.
Good luck anyway.

Pipedreamer,
I think it`s a great idea to keep a record of
VDW type selections.

But only those posted before they run.

Crystal clear obviously has class, but does he posses it at this level malhub has proved himself in better company and is in form.I put this up a while ago, But can't remember where thi is a quote taken from golden years 'F chester may be confussing theissue with form which does appear to fuctuate, but if he cares to study it more in depth he will find a great deal of it is just illusion.Consistent form relative to the rest of the field, confined with ability in better class events is a force to be reckoned with'.. if the ground is g/s today i won't touch malhub with a bargepole.

Without going into much detail, the horses who command attention today involve Hawkwing/Van Nistelrooy, Malhub/Bahamian Pirate, Shersha and Vatirisk at Listowel.

Hawkwing won't be a price, but the others look to be good bets.

I didn't bet in this race, but like you I considered backing two, though the two I considered were the first and second c/fs, close on ability ratings and miles clear of the 3rd c/f.

Respecting the knowledge that you both have of VDW's methodology, I'd be interested in the reasoning behind your decisions to by-pass the second c/f in favour of, respectively, the third c/f and an out of form horse, both with much lower ability ratings than the first and second c/fs.

Here are 3 races I found of particular interest.

Ascot 2.00

Albaran........18........204*......0.......0
Warrsan........11*.......139*.....129.....97*
Frankies Dream.11*........60......134*....71
King Solomon...11*.......113......129.....71
Systematic......7*(3?)...144*.....134*....94*

No questions surrounding the class/form horse here and it will be a surprise if Systematic doesn't win. Providing better than 4/6 is available, I will put money on this one.

Punchestown 3.00

Coppernicus......9*.......68*.....132.....106*
I'vehadit.......14*(11?)..69*.....139*....101
Patriot Games...15*.......58......139*....104
Patsy Veale.....17(14?)...84*.....139*....112*
Fata Albertina..22........58......105.....0

Patsy Veale is the class/form horse and isn't giving away weight. Has been absent for a couple of months after winning a decent race with a low weight (Patriot Games behind now on 7lb better terms). The most probable winner, but is this prize big enough ?

Musselburgh 3.55

Winter Garden...12*.......43........0......0
Jack Dawson.....18(12?)...79*.....104*....54*
Ocean Tide......10*(6?)...50*......98*....54*
Carousing.......27........54*......74.....33
Gargoyle Girl...8*........49*......97.....34
Repulse Bay.....30.........0.......30......0
Spa Lane........8*........33.......82.....19

Class/form horse Jack Dawson already has a verdict over 2nd class/form Ocean Tide on this course and 1lb worse terms then. A previous winner of the race he looks likely to win it again, but a couple of class/form points are a negative and are causing a conflict in the form.

So just one to be taken in Systematic. Have a good day all.
