Welcome to the forum,and belated congratulations on reaching the century,what's the secret?

A very competitive race with several consistent form horses 2 of which Graham has mentioned.

The 2 named are on the improve and should run well but my evaluation has only just started.

There is one horse in this race which has really taken the eye for several reasons but at first glance his draw would suggest he might as well stay at home.

Having looked at the dec`s for tomorrow my initial thoughts are that all the hcaps look very tough and the 2 x listed races at Kempton have conflict.

A casual observer would resonably conclude that with the de facto departure of Guest, the rest of you have been exposed as being totally dependant on him.

No doubt one or two of you hitherto followers will feel the finger pointed at you personally, and you may well be right, but if you have got what it takes to reply, then my guess is you will be the one who posts on a daily basis to keep this thread alive.

Today`s early thoughts

2.45 Sandown – in my opinion a race full of conflict as far too many questions to be asked. The very fact that it is 5/1 the field tells its own storey. For what its worth Persian Punch is the class/form horse & will go close to winning the race for the 4th time. That said I firmly believe one of the following unexposed stayers could be something special, ie – Beekeeper, Bosham Mill & And Beyond.
Of the 3 Beekeeper & And Beyond interest me today & I may have a small interest in both. That said no debutant has won this for along time.

3.20 Sandown – a race full of consistent improving horses and the draw usually plays a part here. In my opinion my old friend Invincible Spirit has to be the class/form horse. Has a good draw unlike S. Beau & Kyllachy. The course is stiff but IS has never raced over 5 fur`s & although he has a high cruising speed I`m alittle concerned that against proper 5 fur` specialists he could be caught out.
On good or faster ground even with the concern over the shorter trip IS has to be a probable winner & at 9/2 (provided the rain stays away) he may carry my money.

3.55 Sandown – Putra Pekan has to be the class/form horse. Many will be convinced Heretic will turn the form around but I`m not so sure. `H` cannot be ruled out therefore it is my intension to dutch this one with PP.
I cannot see anything else to trouble these two.

3.00 Redcar – Gralmano has a lot of plus` today 7 will be a bet at 3/1 or better.

2.20 Leicester – not a race for VDW purists but for me 2 stand out. Distance to induce stamina on 3 occasions before been placed to win at the right distance today. The horse I am referring will carry these on his winning run last season. The second one is so well h`capped it is frightening. I`ll leave it to those who read this thread (anybody ?) to work it out for themselves.

Summary – at this stage Gralmano is a bet. Invincible Spirit a possible bet. I will be dutching the 2 in the 3.55 Sandown.
With regards the 2.20 Leic` 2 small win bets will be the order of the day provided I can get at least 5/1 on them both.

hi determined good posting, just a few points sandown 2.45 rainbow high jt fav for this last year but ran poorly comes here in arguably better form the forgotten horse of the race for me, 3.55 heretic lightly raced type open to improvement as he showed first time out last time out on ground he coped with easily & indeed ran his best race to date on, met all sorts of trouble in running throughout the race & finished strongly at kempton now at sandown 3lb better off with putra pekan trainer & jockey have a decent record at the track also will take a lot of beating in my book .

Good look if you play on Rainbow High. With regards Heretic & PP I have decided to await confirmation on the going as there is plenty of rain about. If soft at Sandown then `H` will become a very strong selection.

hi determined wasn`t going to play in rainbow highs race just thought he was one who was worthy of adding into the pot after all they thought he was good enough to be fav last year in this race after chester & his ratings from this years chester cup were superior coming into this race interesting he was beaten a sh/hd by arctic owl in this race a few years back, all irrelevant now of course that he was withdrawn at the start, i enjoy this thread also determined .

i have just been through the golden years, AGAIN,
isn't suprising how one finds something new each time.

I have been looking closely at letters to which vdw replied, he seems a bit like guest in that he only replies to get across certain points.

i then decided to look at letters to which there was no direct conflict.this proved very illuminating.

i ended up asking myself why they were in there at all? Peach thought them worthwhile, but what does he know??

was he just padding out the booklet or why?

you puzzle me sometimes you identified that the distance was wrong but carried on.

we must not allow any element of a gamble to creep in.

With regards my post yesterday IS was not backed for 2 reasons primarily the price wasn`t right for me & I did doubt the distance factor.
In the race IS clearly showed in this class he is not a 5 fur` horse.

`No element of a gamble` is a very hard one to call. I take it Hawk Wing will not be on your shortlist this weekend because of the distance factor ?

I would add. How many horses have you backed that have that have not won over the distance ?

Back to yesterday, the only race I invested in was the 2.20 Leicester and yes I backed the first & second. In my opinion the winner was cleverly placed.

Onto today, very quickly at first glance both Tillerman & Carnival Dancer must take all the beating.

the distance i will chance when against not much oposition,in my opinion, yesterday was top draw oposition.

your right i will not look at hawkwing, even if he came out on wed and won a 1/4 million pound race over 1m 2f. the sire has few runners that win over 1m 4f, i will spend my time gazing upwards from now till saturday looking for inspiration.
