Hi MoM,
At least you only paid £15. Its price now - at least with Browzers - is £25, and some poor souls, without the benefit of membership of this board, will presumably pay that. "The Golden Years" must rank as THE horse race betting book bargain of all time, although I suppose those of us intent on fully understanding VDW have to pay a fairly hefty non-monetary price in addition, in terms of time spent and frustration, albeit in the fullness of time redeeemed by breakthroughs and the subsequent financial gain! |

Fulham, I agree with you. Time is the greatest problem for many and it is a life times work to unravel his various methods and ideas on racing. Of course many have had a helping hand and have advanced faster due to that fact. Others have had to start at the beginning and even though it is very rewarding when you discovery some aspect it can also be extremely labour intensive. I guess it is not surprising that Mr Peach has had trouble getting to grips with the whole VDW approach. However you have to ask yourself if someone that close to VDW can not make it work what hope is there for the masses?

yep its crap.Ive binned mine to after I ripped it up.The thing is when I first got it I read the first page which basically said how would you like
a seqence of results like this w7/2 w2/1 w4/5 L3/1 w1/1 and so on.As i'd only read page 1 then put the book down for a week or two (I was thinking to myself those results plus the odd man out staking plan = give up the day job)so two weeks later I picked up the book read it from cover to cover in about 10 seconds.Guess what? Answer: that sequence of results turns out to be w7/2 L L (To get the 7/2 winner you also got 2 losers in the same race) next race 2 selections 1 winner 1 loser and so on. my advice would be spend your £15 on "sysematic betting" by C.Van Der wheil then go and read "VDW Spells it all out" again.when you read "VDW S I A O" again start by reading the 2nd from last paragraph first. |

Hi Nomad,
I have read the old issue of Systematic betting. You say to go and read "VDW Spells it all out" again.when you read "VDW S I A O" again start by reading the 2nd from last paragraph first. This paragraph just is a note by Tony Peach on temperament and ability of the whole feild being like a blanket cannot see where you are coming from here? |

Hi,
I went to the browzers website yesterday and the price was £10.I bought my copy from Tony Peach. With reference to the 2nd from last paragraph I was referring to what Van Der Wheil wrote which starts: Sunset Cristo and ends with and odds. |

there is an interesting race today at goodwood where there appears to be a false favourite.
mount joy was owned by hills and was sold after one race to surroor,it was then entered up and performed ok, it should have won last time out against those and looks like it needs further. on the other hand however.......well its there to see good luck |

Hello All,
hope you and yours are well and happy. Barney - spot on. I've just watched Mount Joy get well beaten. Was Pablo your selection or was it Hannon? If you watched the race what happened to Hannon? Was it hit with a whip before getting squeezed out? All the best hedgehog |

Hello All,
hope you and yours are well and happy. Barney - I don't think I understand you unless you mean 2yo to 3yo etc. In which case anyone making lists of horses for those transitions must really know his/her onions! I hope things pick up soon. Guest, Investor, Statajack, Determined, Fulham, anyone post something. Please! All the best hedgehog |

Investor, never mind the rest in peace. From the little I know this is the time of year when potential investments start falling "off the page at us isn`t it ?"
Didn`t I read some where that there are usually 2 -3 months between June - Sept`br when there are plenty of opportunities. Surely over the next 3 - 4 days somebody must have a view on a race. Lets be direct about it. The lack of dialogue, comment, etc on this thread in the recent past has been an embarrassment. Its about time those who care put a bit of life back into it. Please ! Here`s hoping, |

Hi Everyone,
I'm a newbie who's been studying thread for 3 weeks now and dug out the old VDW books to really have a go at sorting it so here goes:- 4.20 Muss Class/form horses Boanerges/Elvington Boy "B" ran well last time from poorish draw and because of this I take him to turn tables on "E" Bali Royal's winning class is not IMO up to that of the York race. Unfortunately decision has to be no bet because a class horse in Rudi's pet is beginning to show form and falling to a decent mark but may be saved for another day. Hope the above makes sense and of course would welcome any comments Cheers Graham |
