Determined,

In the end I cam back to Ellens Lad as having the fewest negatives, but also think savers on Boanerges and Bali Royal are in order. Now watch Night Flight win.

Good to see both Investor and Professional offering their views.

2.25 - Premier Prize should have the class to beat these but very easy to back this morning and will be left to run.

2.55 - for me Right Approach has it all to prove. Moon Ballad didn`t set the pulse racing last time. Bollin Eric in my opinion will be beaten by more speedy types. Where Or When for me has concerns over the distance. Balakheri takes a big step up in class but was very impressive when winning his HANDICAP.
By process of elimination that leaves Sir George Turner and the very unexposed Hills Of Gold.
That said, still too many question marks therefore no bet.

3.25 - Sea Star won a very competitive hcap in fast time and followed that run with an improved effort when upped in both race and value class.
Down in value class today with less weight but against better quality opposotion than faced so far therefore the skinny price on offer is not for me.
As the Professional suggests 2 could be taken against the field to beat him and the 2 for me are Smirk and Surprise Encounter.
Provided the going remains on the fast side I expect a very big run form SE. Has won on seasonal debut twice in past. Can carry the weight. Well drawn and in my opinion will get the run of the race.
I`ll be watching the early races to check the going conditions and SE could be an investment.

Good luck all,

I`ve just seen your latest post.

Ellens Lad has been easy to back this morning when I expected money for him in view of which my confidence has weakened slightly.

Cheers,

Determined,

Now we know why - non-runner. Close but no cigar with my other suggestions.

Thanks - sometimes I find that you just need to stand back sometimes in this game - and sometimes maybe we over complicate rather than simplify.

Have an enjoyable day at York

Hello All,

hope you and yours are well and happy.

Guest - Welcome back. Please don't leave it so long next time.

Investor - as a pro how many races do you evaluate a day? All of them? How do you go about that? Even given my poor form reading there isn't enough hours in a day to do all the races on a normal day never mind a bank holiday!

All the best

let me explain further,i,ve been using a method of my own for over two years now, obviously the more accomplished you become with anything in life the quicker you become at evaluating, sometimes i can go 3/4 days without betting but i,ve accepte that now and it stands me in good stead for vdw.

Barney, an old aussie friend of mine who frequented the the harness racing (trotting) tracks over there with some success, would always say "once those little men get the leg up its out of everybodys hands".

2.45 looks to be between INVINCIBLE SPIRIT/REEL BUDDY i.s has a lot going for him r.e factors but with the inclusion of better class/ability horses no bet...3.20 PERSIAN PUNCH looks the most likely winner zindabad looks very dangerous, and also has a fantastic pedigree, but again both with factors against (in my opinion) i could,nt confidently back p.p although he goes on any ground,i believe when put over 2 miles he,ll win,he may win today over 1/6 but not with my money on him,i lacked temperement yesterday,i won,t make that mistake again

I`ve backed both Invincible Spirit and Zindabad so rest assured they`ll both get beat.

For what its worth I`m convinced this race has always been the plan for IS. With regards `Z` in my opinion he`ll improve over the distance.

Good luck to those (like me) not showing temperament.

*** whats with this Holland and Swalk. I`ve just sent a message to my lady wife. It reads NORWICH.

Cheers,

You have backed against the class/form horses in both races, but I think you may well collect at least once today.

I think Investor's got it spot on with Persian Punch. He's the clear class/form horse, and over rather further the 7/2 this morning would, for me, have represented good value. But its five years since he's won a race as short as today's, and even against seemingly moderate opposition he's too risky for me.
