Therefore we know that consistancy is not a reliable factor because in itself it means very little, particularly so in the higher class of racing.

JIB,

I would agree with you if the consistency factor was the ONLY reason for the selection. VDW has explain that this is far from the case. All other aspects have been checked and the selection is then backed IF it is consistent.

Obviously, I don't know the proper VDW way of using form figs, but, what I can say from my experiments, is that I find the stuff about measuring class by dividing win prize money by wins CAN be helpful - daft as it may seem.

I've just stopped betting at Southwell as two of Dandy's have done quite well.
Now these I unearthed from doing the prize money check and taking note of best ( biggest money) race won in last two years.

In today's examples, these two didn't fit in with my speed fig filters, but they still did the bizz.

Where I find a prize money qualifier is also in my top four speed figs, I'm confident that I'll mostly get a place.

Consistency? I'll leave it to others to argue about.

Btw, a more intelligent person would probably just look out for class-droppers with the right change of trainer etc and not bother his arse about VDW etc. Same result.

Mtoto,

Whilst I accept that consistancy is only one of the materials used in the vdw shelter, like dry rot it has an insidious presence leaving one with little faith in a durable construction.

I see consistancy as a coincidental trait of vdw selections, its active ingriedient is probably good recent form in the shape of being placed lto. The last three form figs only masks this at the same denying the user the opportunity of finding more generously priced selections.

Again ????????????????????

Hi TC

I think Investor is enjoying the cut and thrust, so needs no rescuing from BC.

I have been away for New Year and just arrived back. Reading through it’s the 'same old'.

Nevertheless, it is amusing to be told by several that the VDW method doesn't work (again), and by Epi that VDWers are “complete and utter wankers”.

“Amusing”, because it works well me. And I am a racing novice. Big Grin

Good luck to everyone for 2005. But I will take my chances with the cloak and dagger brigade.

JIB,

I really don't understand that last remark. What sort of prices do you consider as generous? I'm more than happy with the prices I get. The last 2 winners have returned at 7/1 (better available on betfair) If the price on offer is to short just keep the money in your pocket and wait. In fact I have been told I can't expect to find these good priced winners every day. I agree with that, but they can be found most weeks.

I can only speak as I find and as I've said this only backing the consistent horses has shown it's worth over and over again. I just wish I had listened a long time ago.

I suppose I should be happy that many decry the consistency factor, and just as many only look to the front of the market. So please keep up spreading the fallacy, I should put Ectoo and yourself on the pay roll. What I will say to anyone who want's to make money out of horse racing is don't believe them, GOOD consistent horses do win races at very generous prices. As long as that consistency is backed up with true ability, the right racing conditions, and a realistic price.

So Ectoo and JIB keep up the good work and a very happy new year to you both.

Be Lucky

Not always right at the front of the market as you are now well aware,But on a MAJORITY of occasions beyond the first 4 is pointless. Smile

Investor,

at the top of the page "file"
click "save as"
find your cd writer
then click save.

This saves the whole page to disk. Go to the next page and repeat Approx 2400 clicks and you have the lot. You have to add the page number to the "file name on this site"
