Not yet Saturday but I'll make my VDW selection attempt early, bc it's Christmas.

I realise that this is a no-no straightaway; we should wait till the morning of the race.

Another negative is that my three shortlisted all have weaknesses which should mean " no bet".

Whatever, here they are

Azertyuiop
Edredon Bleu
Tiuchev

Actually, I've dutched the first two, with 16 points on A and 2 points on Ed.

I would not recommend these bets.

Seanrua,

Or even better, an hour after!

Dunno whether an hour after or thirty years after would suit this thread best, pkboy.

Monday at Wolver is more my scene.

Agree with you about the negatives.
None of Azertyuiop's form points to his needing this distance, and only recently his trainer said he would run him in the Castleford, (2m), hardly the encouragement for a decent bet.
Edredon Bleu looks beaten by the going stick, so Tiutchev comes out as the likeliest of your 3 under the predicted conditions, yet he is the only one you haven't backed?

Johnd,

A good two miler is a live candidate for the National. and how he kept on in the Victor Chandler last year suggests it will not be too much of a problem. The Ground seems more of a worry as in soft he lacks a turn of foot.

Merry Christmas one and ALL

I've backed Calling Brave and Therealbandit to win and couldnt resist the 20/1 for Fondmort to place.

Its not just Azertyioup who seems to be running at the wrong distance in this one.

I should be backing Fondmort as well John,Lord Sam looks well placed and Tiutchev could well improve on last years run,
Small stakes at the prices on offer and they should give a run for the money,

Good luck

Can't see an obvious winner in that one. Lots of good horses, but some running over unproven distances.

But I think Ollie Magern is my kind of selection in the 1.00 (BF currently 2.8).

And Harchibald in the 1.35, but not odds on (as currently trading 1.8)

Good luck

I'm surprised nobody's mentioned Kingscliff in the 2:10 at Kempton.

Investor,

he also viewd DO as the C/f and likely winner who had never attempted 3m either, he was included in a book due to nemerical conflict, there is non here.

My selection Azerty didn't look much good, but paid 2.50 tote place for coming in third.

Three horses well clear of the rest. KK looked much the best.

If two of the three are said to have not stayed, God help the others! They must be crap as they were miles back.

I very much doubt that KK would have qualified as a VDW selection, but he won fair and square.

I hope i'm not getting the wrong end of the stick (i wish i could have responded earlier but in laws want to see you and all that). But judging by your post.It would seem you came to the conclusion that Azertyioup was a good thing. The horse was/is a 2miler even the winner was proven over 2 mile 4 and had shown decent form at 3 miles. You mentioned to Mtoto a while back about looking before leaping. Not in the races that would have been evaluated by the methods they didn't. i.e top 2 2 principal and highest from all other cards,Penalty value that is.Another point while i'm here. Not all of them are backed. If anybody needs to bash themselves on the head with an hammer it's you mate.
