I shall give you a hand here. Do all the VDW stuff in top class A races and if you come up with the favourite........LAY IT. You will be quids in believe me. Your old mate Swish p.s If the VDW method does not arrive at the favourite, consider backing the favourite (only joking, with the last bit). Just lay all A favs all the time. |

WP - one argument is that the letters were contrived - in order to prop up the sales of an Ailing Paper -
Contra to that is a view that Tony Peach was not bright enough to do it himself ! I have my own views as to who it might be ! ![]() |

Investor said:
"I agree the 1.55 wasn't a vdw race,I never said that in the first place did i,Dickhead. For clues on class and form it is a good example to look at." Charlie Anderson said: "look at the highest value races of the day, Group races and grades A, B, & C only, and try to confine your bets to the top class races at each meeting, basing class on VDW's rating system mentioned below.. never ever back a horse that has not won at least one of its last three races and was placed in the other two. last three form figures must add up to no more than a total of five we are looking for consistent horses nothing else. (see below*) e.g. 1st=1, 2nd=2, 3rd=3 up to 9th=9 and 0=10." Em, I don't quite understand, Investor. Which of the above statements is the most rational, logical and VDWesque, in your opinion? I'd have thought that best examples of class and form were to be found in the best, most expensive race of ther day. This was the correctly identified VDW race of the day that gave us the undisputed best female miler of the year, ATTRACTION (Won 11/4). The only thing none VDW about this was that we were warned to "avoid fillies" (by Charlie Anderson). |

Investor,
Attraction wasnt fav, generally speaking because M Johnston is a) a Scot, and b) a Northern trainer his horses tend to be underbet at Headquarters or Southern tracks. (Have a look at his Ascot record) When Russian Rhythm was retired by Sir M Stoute I understood it to be a tacit acknowledgement that Attraction was the best 'mile' filly in racing. 3/1 was a gift today. |

Ectoo,
While I have to agree that, on first impression, the VDWers do make mere mortals think of JWs, there is a very important difference which is none too flattering for the Vdwers; The important thing about JWs is that they WANT you to UNDERSTAND and BELIEVE what they're telling you. They back up there arguments with clearly numbered, chapter and verse, which they are only too happy to point out and explain. VDWers, however, seem (judging by this thread) to be more akin to members of a secret society or closed order. Communication with outsiders seems to be forbidden, except when abuse is to given out. Secrecy and mystification must (or so it seems) be maintained at all times. Personally, I would expect such people to have their own Lodge with a whole array of funny handshakes and coded passwords. I think you'll agree that this is quite unlike the JWs, who go out and actively target bereaved or misfortunate members of the rank and file public. To my eyes, there is no comparison - except in their zeal and devotion. |

WP -
I have talked at length with "Colin Davey" on the subject of VDW. Colin can quote verbatum - almost all of VDW - and he originates from the time of the letters. He also not only claims to have known him - but says that he went to Bermuda with him ! and that he was the character as portrayed. "Walter Mitty" ??? He also says that the only example worth looking at is "Little Owl" ! Note - 1 - I am not a member of his Syndicates 2 - I am sure he was not VDW 3 - I am not conected with him - but I have used him in the past as a "shortcut" on the learning curve . 4 - I have actualy had some "Fun" -(albeit expensive fun) from him ![]() 5 - He is the only VDW'r I know -running - a "Roller" a "Porche" and a "Ferrari" - but its not from "Betting" the current VDW "Selections" - its from exploiting the VDW "bullshit" 6 - Gummy will probably Axe me ![]() This message has been edited. Your telling me. ![]() ![]() ![]() Seanrua I'm not talking about the highest class race from the principal meeting and all that malarkey. The point i was making was from a class form point of view. What i was trying to get accross was the fav wasn't a form horse.it had been running in higher class races fair enough and had an ability rating of 88 what Was the value of the race Vodka Bleu had just won,For christ's sake open your eyes. ![]() |

Little Owl actually fits the method without any nonsense with hidden factors. The funniest part about that example is that a price of evens or better is stipulated yet it went off odds on, you guessed it, "no bet".

One other possible link between devotees of VDW and other religeon appears to be the ability to go into trance and see visions while muttering mumbo jumbo.
I'm sure JIB and Tuppeny Cat have seen this sort of thing in their travels. I certainly have. The best of the lot, I thought, was the walking on fire and self-mutilation with needles etc. Normal sensation seemed to be non-existent. Again, the visions and babbling can only be likened to the effects of hard, class A drugs. Far out, incredible stuff! I cannot imagine the cause, but only last week, Investor, for instance, had no time to waste, as a "naked lady awaited". This week, he suddenly discovers that he knows who Nessie is and calls him, " progeny"! I didn't merit quite so high a title: Dickhead was my lowly label. It's all exciting stuff, I must say, though quite why I'm spending a Saturday night trying to see the less exotic patterns of VDW, I really don't know. I must be completely fkin mad, I guess! Fatal ATTRACTION? |
