Barney - yes it was Muchea who was the class/form horse and along with the big weight turnaround from last year it all added up against Calcutta who had been placed in a similiar way to Faithful Warrior before going for his race. So two big mistakes for me yesterday, it must have been the hangover.

Mtoto/Fulham - The two horses today were found via other means. The consistency filter only applied to those VDW found using the consistency method. Roushayd was not one of the 3 most consistent because that method wasn't about form figure consistency. Consistent form means consistently in form, not consistently placed or suchlike. Muchea was consistently in form for all 3 runs relative to Saturdays race. In handicaps we have to take into account the weight factor when sorting out the form. It is when a horse with a big weight is in form and not shown he can't act with it that we have to be cautious. There in lies the difference between Canny Danny and Move Off amongst others. Look at the fav in Virgin Soldiers race yesterday. Punters believe Mr Pipe to be a wizard, and so he is, but he's not a miracle worker and this was yet another overburdened pipe fav to fail recently.

woodbury looks to have a lot of similarities with pentecost but he is in form.

i dont know how hes managed to get those wins without it ever carrying any weight, but he has.

also stretton has ridden this on four of its last nine runs on each occasion the horse has struggled. next run out it has bolted home(last run being the exception, but it was outclassed there).

For me, the most notable thing about the 4.40 at Bath is that two of the horses are handled by one of the board's most discussed trainers, and both have interestingly ownerships and running histories.

It gets like this from time to time, ie - very few posts for several days then it goes mad.

All,

The Silver Lining,

I know it has been mentioned briefly in the past but how much value should one put on its contents in comparison to all the other literature held on the subject ?

Cheers,

Basically the book is a compilation using some of the vdw literature condensed with the views of vdw disciples past & present from the raceform update`s sports forum, they were asked by Tony Peach to show in practical terms how they had progressed using the methods over the years, so if you were thinking of buying it i guess youd be taking the chance that one or two of these contributions could maybe open something up for you.

JohnD,

with Red Rioja dropping yet further in class and the ground staying good to firm I would not bet Rosa Parkes.

I'de be more interested in seeing Salviati get the better of Henry Hall since he'll be 12lb better off than in the 3 length beating at Sandown. (The same jockey/trainer combination that beat HH that day!)

Determined.
It is not worth reading, nothing new in it at all,and some very dubious photocopies of betting slips,I recall waiting in anticipation for this publication, and then being very dissapointed when I received it.
Guest/Barney.
Can't find reasoning behind Virgin Soldier, although Joint Statement looked good today, thanks Barney for flashing the green lights with that one.
