statajack,

one of the race readers has started to use factors, which i have never seen used before, in his race analysis of some potential horses. it may be coincidence but its a subject which has been under discussion lately on this thread.

one saving grace is he did not put them in context though in relation to their true worth.

hi pipe dreamer

lady 2k was a form horse and did have some plus points.

there were a number of higher class horses in the field and also a number with better form though not as consistent(numerically)as 2k.

the resultant conflict would have precluded it from being a selection for most on those grounds alone.

some vdw selections you can see as winning that you could see improving but not by enough to win.

Barney,

3.20

A lot of rain overnight which will favour Just James, Fire Up The Band & Selective.
Just James hated the ground & the course yet still won last time. His turn of foot was made to look very good but they were stopping in front as they went too fast early.
That said, I expect him to improve again today & gain the day.
*** Baldour is one who`s form I believe is an illusion & he could cause an upset.
I`ll be having a decent bet on Just James & a small bet on Baldour.

3.55

I was very strong on Epicentre but has the ground gone against ?

Cheers,

Barney, thanks for the response,a mare in foal can run up to almost a stone better than she has previously shown.

Barney,

I take it you have Johnny Eberneezer as 1st on class/form with Just James 2nd ?

JE clearly on the upgrade, has 2 `class` runs to his name, carries 7 lbs less & R.Hughes keeps the ride. Added to that this speed track will suit. Clearly a lot of plus`.

However, Epsom form is not the most reliable. Also, I take the view that his races have not been as competitive opposition wise as the race JJ won last time.

In my opinion JJ win last time was the `class` performance in relation to those JE has beaten.

Timefigures favour JE however just because JJ does not as yet have the figures in the book doesn`t mean he`s slow.

Again, in my opinion, the soft ground today will be the key to JJ who`ll be able to lie handier and his turn of speed will gain the day.

No doubt come the race I`ll look a total plonker.

Cheers,

Surely we should have `dutched` the 2 of them ?

Any thoughts on Epicentre ?

Also, I haven`t evaluated the 5.05 from a VDW perspective but I do like Native Title.

Why do we even waste time discussing these impossible races ?

I thankfully didn`t have a bet today and haven`t done so since Epsom. Just as well.

That said, I did like both Prince Hector and Affray at Bath today.

Reading a card and/or a days racing has to be one of the many answers, ie - to quote yourself from previous posts

" there`ll be easier races to solve today "

Better a 7/4 winner than a 6/1 loser.

Cheers,

Barney/Determined anybody,
I thought that Prince Hector and DR.Cool were vdw
types today.PH did not appear consistent,DC the only concern was the ground, which meant it wasn't taken.

In my post of 9.28am today I stated that I was going to have a decent bet on Just James.

My last post stated that I didn`t have a bet today which was infact the case.

Most who read this thread will have no interest in my bets however I feel it necessary to put the record straight as I once gave a mixed message in the past and my integrity was questioned.

Apologies for any confusion.

Cheers,

Prince Hector`s maiden win last season in race 5604 makes some reading.

Very well supported 1st run this season but genuine excuses for the defeat.

Last run was a `class` performance where he was well placed at todays distance.

Today the distance and going were perfect. Stable in very good form. Dropped in class. His place in the market given his last 2 form figures told the story.

Isn`t it easy in hindsight. Seriously though these were my conclusions before the event so why didn`t I back it ?

Because I`m a plonker.

Cheers,

I appreciate your frank and forthright thoughts, and your honesty about above race,
but don't you think it would help all if you could name the meeting and time of race?

I have found it now but it took a lot of messing around.

The same applies to a lot of you chaps on here.

You sometimes like to name horses by initials only, or, as Barney often does, just name the race but not the horse,

Come on lads let's have it right.
