Lee,

To that list I might add Air Trooper, Hang On Elvis (class for sure may exclude this one), House Guard, Northleach, Royal Match.

Sir,

Could you please update me on the current situation as regards a horses' Oficial Rating and how the Oficial Rating is affected by any racing the horse may do outside the UK.

Thanks in anticipation,

John

3.30 Windsor -

I would have thought that Quarimount had just about every indicator that you could ask for in a VDW selection !

Dropping in Class

Distance winner

Dropping back in dist

Going Correct

6 l winner staying on strongly

Red hot Stable

jt top Most consistent

Top AR top lto

Top on every Rating I can find

Running within 2 days cos its about to be "Clobbered" by the Handicapper .

Availible at Evens

Now tell me its a "No Bet" Big Grin

I take your point, Tuppeny, but, imo, it's not a dinkum VDW because the race is only a D3 Classified, £4.9K.

Away ftom the constraints of VDW, I've mentioned this race on the " Stale Crust and Dripping" thread.

Personally, I agree with one of your earlier posts, when you pointed out that good profit can be made in the "lower class" races.

I'd be busted if I were to wait for "VDW "selections that offered value, imo.

In all tense and purposes it looks a 2 horse race,I would be very wary of belle Rouge. Smile

TC,

None of the runners in this race (3:30 Windsor) are on my list, so it isn't a race I looked until you mentioned it.

I can't say if VDW would have come up with your selection. I can only give my reasons why I wouldn't back.

All you say about the horse is fair enough, but is it a fair price? The horse looks as if it need's the extra distance it had in it's last race. It has failed on this course, ok that may have been the going. It has also failed at the distance against weaker opposition, when the going should not have be a hindrance. It is running against another consistent horse who should be able to perform in this class. Do you think evens is a good bet? At evens I would rather lay it and have 11 running for me. I'm not playing in this either way but what do you think is the better bet?

Just for good measure, for the stats fans. This has never been won by a 3 year old or the favourite. Ok, there are only four runnings to go on.

If you do play best of luck

Seanrua,

How many winners a week do you want/need. Rather than going looking for a bet, wouldn't it make more sense to save the money, and then have a good bet when it all looks right? I managed on looking for 2 winners a week, if more really stand out then take them. Why go looking?

Boozer,

Why leave out Aperitif he is at least on the list?

I agree folk that name themselves after a horse can't be the full shilling.

2 winners a week is fine but if your strike rate is 33% you still need to find six bets.

TC,

I hope you are able to view the following fact in the way it is intended - to help.

Those who have taken the time to look at the selections that VDW made will soon realise that, contrary to popular believe, most of his examples were in fact going UP in class for the prize - Roushayd filled in the gaps.

The fact that 5 runners are withdrawn does not inspire confidence in the running conditions
