a good point you raise with ballycassidy.

If you were a trainer, or owner for that matter and you had a chioce of when it could win would you send it in at 4/6 or 6/1?

Only just seen your post so hindsight etc,

Not many woodman horses get mile and half, I am sure we all had a big chin wag about that earlier this year, put there with absolutely no chance whatsoever,
by what reason that could be forcast fav I dont know,LOL. it may well be a confuser after a card marking effort. We know he is a good one but see above, what distance is mondays race?

What would we be like if we owned a horse?

There are no trainers bent enough. LOL.

Thanks for the reply.

At Thurles last Thursday 2.45,Greywell won 4/6 from Evens,I considered it a vdw good thing, forgot to mention it before this.Did anybody notice it.

The shortest price favs method produced two more winners today, they were both at the same meeting,I wonder does this qualify,if they are both at the same meeting,I don't think vdw elaborated.

A horse to note for the future,it marked it's card today methinks is Chicago Bulls, even though at first glance it may not seem so,any comments welcome,

Barney, good to see everything back to normal.

Believe it or not, I once had a 10th share in a racehorse,( Actually we leased it), trained by N McCauley, and it was a real bag of s***.
Some of the members backed it every time it ran, until their money or their patience ran out.
We went one day to watch it run in an AW seller at Southwell, and the trainer told us that she would be pleased if it got in the first 5. The inevitable happened, and the bloody moke got up right on the line to win at 33/1, ridden by a young girl.
The sad truth is that we had one member who had £5ew on it, and that was the sum total of all our bets.
So much for subterfuge and laying horses out for a plot. We had a good time though, and the most exciting part was seeing who could get to the races first, to pick up the free owners badges.

Anybody have a view on Ravenswood`s running yesterday ?

Official h`capper makes a big mistake dropping the horse far too much after `R` seasonal debut at Chepstow.

Off his h`cap mark yesterday given what he is capable of he should have just about won the race.

What does the h`capper do now ?

In my opinion Mr Pipe was very canny yesterday, ie - the horse was never going to win thus leaving the official h`capper in a quandry.

Mr Pipe will certainly be hoping the h`cap mark remains the same.

*** this horse is being plotted up make no mistake ***

Cheers,

Determined,

Who knows with Ravenswood. I thought it was the biggest certainty I'd seen in six months and it doesn't even make the frame. I'm sure you're right that it'll win a big prize at a good price, but probably that will be the time I've got fed up with backing it.

To my way of thinking anyone who backed a winner yesterday must have been a genius or just plain lucky.

You did pick a winner Gunner wellburn.

That was a method selection and a cross check, the same type as bleu superb last week for anyone that look's at these things.

    Determined, OT,
As you say the horse is being plotted up but the question is when. The problem is that Ravenswood will now be watched by 99% of regulars. Pipe will probably go for it when he has a couple of other (more fancied) horses in a big race.
In yesterdays RP there was a clue that it wouldnt win. As part of the hcp blot write-up they mentioned that they could only contact the owner by telephone as he was abroad.
Interestingly the RP gave a good clue for GUNS N ROSES II in the 140We. T Easterby in his interview said he would love to win the race after his association with the horse the race was named after. His 'fav' of his two runners was Monarchs Pursuit, which he talked up at some lengh, barely mentioning Guns N Roses II. T Easterby often pulls this stunt, so when the early prices saw the horse into 5/1 after a fc of 8/1, the outcome was obvious.
Contrary to Barneys opinion, Mini Sensation is not the one to watch in the future, but the two who "got" a vets certificate and avoided the contest; LUZCADOU and STAR JACK

OldTimer - They were there to be found yesterday. Spirit Leader, Impek, See More Business all calling to be backed. I got 3 out of 4 with only Flagship Uberalles failing to run to his best.

Impeks race was interesting because the INITIAL numerical picture didn't tell the full story.

Also for info on the big handicap hurdle at Sandown, I can say that Quazar was not a form horse in the context of the race.

The horse has been gelded since last jumps season therefore Mr Pipe already has his excuse when the horse wins his big race, ie " the horse has taken along time to get over the operation"

2 x points to note,

- Tom Scudamore gets on very well with this one and

- his hat trick last NH season was on right handed tracks.

Cheltenham and Aintree are some time away but that maybe the time we need to be watching this one closely.

Barney,

Mr O`Neill does seem to have 2 x ways of running his horses.

Cheers,

Well done yesterday.

No bets for me.

In my opinion backing the Flagship who I accept had everything going for it was not value when one considers that (a) how good is Moscow and (b) on Sandown running in April Cenkos was always going to be a big danger.

See More Business - again looked nailed on but the weight concession scared me off.

Cheers,

I was not calling for it to be watched, merely pointing out the very apparrent inconsistency in his horses performance, irrespective of placement. he pulled a giocomo on friday as well with darapour.

I have been having a close look at his. He will allow consistency until its limitations are apparent then it all goes out the window.

Note keen leader and Rhinestone cowboy, if they are good enough to go all the way then there is no need for shennanigens but as soon as they falter then he has to manipulate them so they can start earning their keep money for the owners.

Barney - I trust you have also noted the subsequent performances of Jonjos horses that ran at a good Chepstow meeting a few weeks ago.

Only Creon has been highlighted by the stewards.

It would be a very silly trainer who messed about with his potential top class horses, ie - Keen Leader & Rhinestone Cowboy and may I add Intersky Falcon.

I totally agree once a horse has found its level thats where the trainer earns his corn by then having to `mess` about until the next opportunity arrives.

With regards R.Cowboy - if one just backed this horse and nothing else this NH season I think 100% rather than 80% would be achieved.

Cheers,

Good afternoon
would you expand on what you mean r.e messing about with horses,It's namely Intersky Falcon i'm referring to,Surely your not thinking of his run last weekend,I was shocked Mini sensation ran so bad yesterday,And the jockey booking alone would have put me off that one.
