Hi Barney,

Not quite right, CP was carrying 2lb more in this race than in his Rosebery victory.

However, given that this race was a 45+ and Kempton one a 40+ that sounds like the handicapper hadn't been too harsh.

It is probably fair on reflection to assume that CP had been raised 4lb for his Kempton win. Taking a line through St Petersburg, CP was receiving 9lb at Kempton and 51b in the race under consideration at Sandown (of course it is entirely possible that St Petersburg had been dropped making CP's rise greater).

I do concede that the rise in handicap does'nt appear too severe, although CP was noted as 'all out' at Kempton.

As I said in an earlier post, he would be a clear selection but I can't hand on heart say he would have a 'good thing' for me at this stage.

Then again, maybe I'm expecting too much to come up with the same 'bets' as VDW rather than the same 'selections'.

Thanks for your input smile

Cheers

Crock.

Re Dibbinsdale's race.

Thanks for the s/f, before I can make a final decision I need the s/f for Town Sky. If it isn't too much of a cheek, could I trouble you for these? Oh, what does AA stand for in the Dibbinsdale results?

Johnd.

I use s/f to find the c/form horse, I made Kirovski the class/form horse in the Cambridgeshire. BP was the 2nd c/form horse for me.

Be Lucky

WHATS THIS 45+ 40+

VDW told us explicitly how to measure the class of a race

As always thank you for your prompt and attentive reply. However I take issue with you over the possibility of arriving at a definitive understanding of matters that are open to individual interpretation.

Barney
I will examine the race in it's turn. I was hoping to be able to compare my conclusions with yours. The coincidence referred to was purely concerning the time.

Barney,

The 40+ 45+ are the handicap bands for the races concerned and were given in context of trying to assess how harshly the handicapper had treated CP for his Kempton win.

Sorry, I thought I made this pretty obvious confused

Hi Mtoto,

Previous SF's for Town Sky:

0 - 9:11 - CLASS 12 AA H/CAP
36 - 8:10 - CLASS 24 NURSERY
65 - 8:11 - CLASS 9 2YO MDN
12 - 9:00 - CLASS 15 2YO MDN
23 - 9:00 - CLASS 7 2YO MDN

(AA H/CAP = All Aged Handicap)

Cheers

PS - The '0' s/f quoted means that the horse didn't finish in the first 6 to gain a quoted sf in Raceform, although if calculated further back than 6th place then they may of course have earned a rating of some kind.

You may well be right, but I hold out the hope that you are wrong.

We agree, for example, that there are differences of view about what, precisely, VDW meant by "the missing link", and although I think my interpretation is very probably the correct one, I accept that it is just that - my interpretation. But it is, I suggest, reasonable to assume that VDW knew exactly what he meant when he used that phrase, and I am far from pessimistic about discovering the evidence that will settle the matter definitively.

Okay. I'm a little busy at the moment, I'll get back to you later. Some of the ideas that I want to investigate are likely to be (I'm fairly sure) destructive according to your view. It isn't my intention to be vandalistic so I ask your indulgence a little further.

I haven't gone into it in detail yet, it doesn't look like a betting race but for the sake of discussion my first impression is that Noble Pasao is the best bet.

A book with Noble Pasao?
Two races today look more promising to me. L4:00 and F4:20. I'm going to look at the 3 races now, it'll take an hour-hour'n'alf, have you looked at 'em? want to? Shall I put up my first impressions before detailed study?

Definitely a no play race for me but I don't think you can rule out Czarina Waltz if getting the trip.

Wonder how many we can dutch for a decent return roll eyes

Cheers

Barney,

I hate to worry you, but Noble Pasao looks to be the one in my book - so that's definitely the kiss of death!
