HI EVERYONE,

I read some VDW stuff a long time ago but I could not get it to work back then.

This page has rekindled my interest and I look forward to meeting you all!

Its not a question of public v private: unless I've mis-understood, the thread was never "closed".

As to the financial context, I may well have mis-understood the relevant posts on another thread, but hasn't Gummy found an alternative form of the board which is essentially comparable but at much lower cost? Some of us have already paid - voluntarily - a modest subscription which should help cover that.

Just another late night drunken post of no special meaning. My life is basicaly conducted in Japanese so the Gummy board provides me with the relief of being able to use a little English. Sometimes this psychological function is the only one that my posts serve and as such they have very little meaning to anyone other than me. In any case, thanks for taking the trouble to reply.

I`ve read all the literatue many times but I cannot recall the SILVER LINING.

Would you be so kind as to point me in the right direction.

Caprichio / Tillerman

I agree that Caprichio looked good yesterday. No mention of Tillerman however. Whilst the initial numerical picture suggested he wasn`t consistent he was clearly top on the ability rating.

Also, in my opinion his last 2 runs could easily be ignored. Taking that view his Royal Ascot run was the best form in comparison to all the oppositon and with clear factors against all bar Where Or When a book on `T` and WOW at the very least looked good to me.

Not hindsight. My actual evaluation made Tillerman the bet but I didn`t play because he`s a keen sort and I was worried there`d be no pace in the race.

I`d appreciate any commets.

Cheers,

Hello All,
I have changed the options in Admin for registering to the forum.
This means that guests cannot view or post on the board their membership goes into a queue to await approval and they have to provide more details when they register.

Hi Determined,

I thought that the horses last three placings, when added together, had to be in the three lowest numbers of the field.

three legs dont flatter yourself.

JOB DONE AS THEY SAY!

re Tillerman

he had won the highest handicap, albeit 2 yrs ago and had been prepared nicely over 7f to get that bit more speed after ascot.

hello pkboy,

wellcome to the board, have you got any old form books?

Adding up the numbers is a guide to consistency, it will not however show a horses ability or class. These, as i am sure you will remember, are the other factors VDW told us to consider.

r.e tillerman there were horses that had ran and won in better class than T and were in form, but he had to be respected hence no bet for me,capricho was a good thing (in my opinion) but i,m suprised nobody,s mentioned arctic owl the price you could get was ludicrous, any comments on this one

pipedreamer,

very glad to hear that, how did it happen?

investor,

tillerman had won a class 870, tough speed next with class 350 then reel buddy with 325.

I agree with arctic owl what a fantastic price for a class 810 winner against a 120, a 61 and a 51.

Hello All,

hope you and yours are well and happy.

I'm just trying out an idea but can I ask those more knowledgeable in the ways of VDW: Was RAWYAAN a good thing today?

Many thanks for any help in advance

All the best
hedgehog

P.S Gummy - thanks for taking remedial action. Lets hope it works!

Hi Determined,
The silver lining is the latest of the VDW books, it is however quite pricey at about £40 when it first came out, it could be cheaper now. It really just has all the old material in from the older books just rehashed, I do not personally think it is worth the money.
If you wish to know more drop me a line at my email address.

Glad to see the forum is back to it's old self, I'm all for having a laugh but there is a limit !!
Cheers Mimas.

Feedback to earlier posts,

Pkboy,

Before I reply to your post of this morning please bare in my that I am still a relative novice on this subject.

The consistency method, the first mentioned by VDW is one way of narrowing the field. To quote the man himself, taking the 3 most consistent from the first 5 ( non hcaps) and the first 6 ( hcaps) in the betting is an area alive with winners. As you rightly pointed out it is the 3 lowest figures therefore Tillerman did not qualify using this method.

VDW go`s on to say that this numerical picture can be very illumating and show SUBJECT TO OTHER FACTORS the good betting propositions.

**** this initial method has come in for quite a lot of discussion just recently and it looks as though many a good thing can be identified once the class and form of all the probables has been considered ****

I don`t how far on you are with VDW but if you are in the early stages then what I can say is that you have joined the best thread around and believe me many who post on here know the time of day and all are very helpful.

Investor,

Tillerman – with the exception of Priors Lodge (5) the whole field wasn`t overally consistent. VDW stated that we should always allow a consistent horse one bad run ( not 2 mind ). Tillerman ran an excellent race in defeat at Royal Ascot and in my opinion that form was better than anything else in the field. There were clear and genuine reasons for his latest 2 starts. Take those 2 runs away and what price would he have been yesterday. If my memory serves me correctly wasn`t Florida Son allowed 2 `disappointing` runs prior to winning at Aintree ?
Whilst Tillerman`s ability rating is based primarily on his valuable h`cap win of 2 years ago I was comfortable in the fact that he Ascot run in class/value £78,300 was the best form in comparison to yesterdays opposition.

With clear factors against all the opposition ( in my opinion ) with the exception of Where Or When who was consistent (12) and possibly improving I made Tillerman the class/form horse and most probable winner.

As it turned out I identified the winner but didn`t play due to the likelihood of a slow/tactical race which wouldn`t have suited Tillerman.

I should add the `T` was well placed on both OR and RHR.

Mimas,

Thanks for the reply. I`ll be in touch indue course.

Cheers,
