your concerns over solo flight getting the trip appear to be unfounded based on his york run last year. he looks a good thing to me.He has thrashed some horses that did particularly well in the cambridgeshire. he looks in a different league to this lot.

My ONLY concern is as walter pointed out a week or two ago is he being saved for next year?

His october run last year was a bummer!

Possibly a few books to be made today. The listed race is surely between Spinette and Rosa Parks but will the prices provide a better than evs book?

The 3.25 is between Artie and Seven No Trumps by my claculations and a book looks more than possible.

The 1.45 has Bourgeois,Solo Flight and Defining as the likely winners but I'll wait for the market before putting the money down.

Il Capitano looks a good thing at Taunton, but again I would want better than 4/5.

Have a good day all.

Is that Pigeon English????? Please elaborate!

Newmarket, Friday.

Millenium Force needs a stiff track and a strong pace, which he should get here; With everything else in his favour, he looks a really good bet,(Barring significant rain).

Dont be sorry, I will take any scraps I can get!

I am sat her with my RP in hand looking at a big ring round defining and the missus in the background going "Why do you always change your mind?". LOL.

Going against the odds again, I dont know.

Its all new to me walter this VDW mularky, and although all these posts may look bollocks they are important steps in my learning curve, you see whether I bet or not I do look at most races to see what I think and then what went wrong afterwards.

Keep posting on here, tell me winners after the event, why they won, why they lost, speak in code or clearly, its up to you. you see I dont ignore anything posted on this thread and I can soon tell if its tripe or not.

I mean looking back today over the 215 the market leaders had no chance really and looking on a line through solo flight it was easy to pick out why even persian lass was beaten by salim toto. horses are fairly consistent really arnt they. Or am I getting confused? solo flight was in the wrong race!

Barney,

Just seen your posting re Top Speed. I have never heard of anyone using just record times to calculate s/f, although some of the standard times I have seen on occasions have been faster than the record.Who posts tripe on this thread?

Determined.

For me Lingo was never put in the race, but to fancy him for the Nov. hcp? That can only be based on speculation, he has never shown on the track he is capable of winning a race of that class. For me this is where Barney and Johnd are going wrong. It is very satisfying to second guess the trainers, but unless the horse has done it on the track that is all it is, a guess. The horse must had done it on the track, shown it can at least run well against horses of the class it is taking on, on the day.

If you stick with Lingo for that race I wish you luck. Remember Beauchamp Pilot,
and Scott's View had both proven themselves before hand.

Be Lucky

I was refering to selections that sometimes appear before and after the event, INCLUDING LOTS OF MY OWN, that from a VDW point of view bear no relation to his methods and what he was trying to get across. In hindsight of course.

It might be easy for you mtoto but a lot of other people are still learning and still getting it wrong.

On the other matter of speed figures, I am sure that early on in the season when the speed figure guy changed and there was all the associated upheaval, that was because the calculations were changed from a basis of standard times to a basis of record times. As always I am probably wrong but thats how I remeber it.
