Boozer

82-83 averaging 2 a weekbut even he wasn't adverse to skiming (1 or 2 m's?)a % and lets just say a degree of artistic licence does no harm to book sales.

Hi All,
I've been looking at Ayr 3.45

"Nights Cross" looks good - but can we forgive the placing of 11th when in 6f £200,000 race, when looking at consistency?

"If Paradise" clearily has shown most Ability, winning a £78,300 race. But some negatives:
15th lto - one length behind "Nights Cross" ( 2lb better off today) Jockey Richard Hughes seems to have chosen stable-mate "Boogie Street"

Looks like a "no bet" "Nights Cross" may well win, but not a "stand-out"

3/3 not bad and Ravenglass at 14/1 was a shock!

I am working on making the tables a little clearer for those that are interested. Shall I keep posting?

Max - Personally, If I put in that much time day in day out and only grabbed 250 quid I'd have given up ages ago. Can I ask on what evidence your view is based?

Also, do you actually know Mr Nevison? Smile

You have read many of my posts and I dare say you know I work to 750 a week,I base my views on seven years of doing this day in day out and actually socializing with real time pro's not keyboard dreamers.I have met Nevison on a number of occasions and despite his tendancy to lay himself open to ridicule after talking up a runner pre race he is a very likeable chap.

I take it your a number 2?

Please, please, please...

I thought I had a handle on it from your posts on page 533, but like the mists over the loch, nothing concrete that I could nail to the mast.

Confused

Max - I know Dave, and I agree he is a decent chap, but his style of betting doesn't appeal to me and I know from his reaction to certain results that he probably endures some fearsome losing runs. There are people making money from their betting at all levels and via many different selection routes and if you are clearing 750 a week, you will know that there are not many jobs that pay like that. Especially where you are your own boss and I'm sure you wouldn't swap it for anything else.

I do think though that your comment about VDW being arrogant in his declaration that basically most punters are mugs needs a retort. You may make your living at the game, but you are in a tiny minority and it is a fact that most punters lose their cash either steadily or heavily over time. VDW was referring to those when he made those comments, but he also knew that there are plenty of people in racing who claim to make money through their betting, but actually get it from elsewhere.

By the way, I am not having a dig at you on that score, only that I can't believe you seriously think that all these self proclaimed "pros" actually make good money year in year out. Smile

What do you make of the 2.35 Ascot?

If you take White Rose's German form at face value it does look to have outstanding claims in this listed race, however I am always a little dubious of foreign form and I think todays ground could be a little to lively,it also as not proved itself over 1m 4f.Nevertheless it is the class horse in this race but I have overlooked it in favour of the only other two who have a realistic chance.I cannot split Floreeda and Flying Wanda in relation to class/form.Delving into the form of both Floreeda beat a 98 rated field from the front gradually grinding them down and a big plus is it wll have no going/distance worries.Flying Wanda on the other hand ran well in the Lancashire oaks finishing a five lengh second but beating a 105 rated field. The problem is the trip though for me coupled with J.Noseda's dismal s/r at Ascot and I have to ask why such a competant trainer with a pretty impressive s/r around the country lacks at this course.
So its a win on Floreeda for me but I may cover on Flying Wanda

Hello max,
I think everyone who posted on this VDW forum have jumped ship and gone to the RSUK forum including JIB.
That's what I admire loyalty to someone who starts a VDW forum and after 613 pages nearly everyone bugger's off.
Even Gary of Raceman ( who has vanished) infamy is posting on there and still having a swipe at me.
Thank goodness there are still many members who support this forum and at least with it being members only and with the troublemakers gone everyone can be assured of sensible discussion.

ASCOT 2:35

Having looked at this race for a not inconsiderable period of time, I cannot find anything that I am confident to put my spondoolies on. However, the classform is FLOREEDA and the next best is ITNAB. Back on top of the ground I think FLOREEDA WINS.

This is too difficult a race for me, but I agree with your views about the value of German and some other countries' form (I'd except France and Ireland).

Yesterday, in my view Stormont was the VDW class/form horse in the 2.40 Goodwood, but that was largely based on one valuable German win, and I would have been happy to have layed him had he run. With Michael Jarvis as her trainer, though, I don't feel nearly as keen to lay White Rose

I think that you are being unrealistic in expecting the VDW forum to return to normal overnight. I will do my bit though If I can but I am not very good.

It does seem a shame that some of the long term members have defected but it can only be a matter of time before they return to the fold, assuming of course you have no objection.I on the other hand might not be so charitable in your shoes.
I posted a message to Gary on another forum yesterday as he is trying to get to grips with the vdw idea (not RSUK)an if he makes a serious effort to understand it then a trip back here to go through this thread has to be on the cards as this is surely the most comprehensive analysis on the net.The boards I have read that cover the topic come a poor second and most of the posters give the opinion they are treading water.
I have not seen any posts from JIB anywhere so he must be using a new name and I am more than a little surprised that he and 111 have gone.

I can understand your being cautious over Floreeda and the r/h scenario but post race (and indeed visually pre race)reports seem to confirm she got upset before entering the stalls and became unruly so maybe that explains why she ran badly r/h that day afterall like you say she has only ran that way once before so I would suggest it is a little premature to speculate on her suitability to going right handed.Of course if she bombs today then questions will have to be asked and it may well turn out that the doubts you raise are justified.
Good luck anyway.
