Hi Barney,

We must be viewing the Roushayd method differently if you mean Indian Country is a Roushayd qualifier.Every other horse in the race has got better proven winning ability. It would be too much to take on trust for me I'm afraid.

Hello Fulham,

Unfortunately I was a member of Jock Binghams service at a different time to you and I've only found a record of 2 horses that I can definitely say were his tips.Just in case any other members also received them, here they are

2/5/98 uttoxeter 3.20 Smith Too

6/5/98 wetherby 8.05 Time Won't Wait

Hi Bream,

Thanks. If its of any interest to you I'll gladly post the list of later selections for which I can vouch. (You probably know that Jock died last Summer, so its of academic interest only.)

You didn't specifically state that you meant Indian Country, could you confirm or deny that that was the horse you had in mind.

Hello All,

hope you and yours are well and happy.

All - can I have a look at Mr Mahoose in retrospect?

I made Mr Mahoose the C/F horse with Lady Pahia second.

Looking at consistency I thought MM was terrible then I looked again and found it to be a 4 which made it the most consistent animal in the race.

So lets look at its last 3 races.

29/09/01 Ascot 7F soft 43K 6th of 24 by 5L. This prize was out of its reach given its previous performances but it showed ability, in the Barney sense, by coming 6th. I don't think it was the going that prevented the win in this case as MM had already notched up a 7F soft win.

01/05/02 Ascot 7F 20k 9th of 28 by 7.25L. Again this shows some ability but again the prize is out of reach. MM has never won first time out or after a break so a good run was not to be expected.

21/05/02 Beverley 8F 6K 8 of 9 by 9L. This is the wrong distance for MM as its race comment shows but its the right sort of race.

So if you ignore each of these races you get a consistency of 4. A highly consistent C/F horse that has shown class, in the Barney sense, in its 4th last race.

Is this about right?

All the best
Larry (hedgehog)

I think PK was 13th not 5th in the sweeps Hcap Hurdle on Tuesday 28th December 1976 at Leopardstown (1479). He was 5th the race before that Irish Benson & hedges Handicap Hurdle. While Drumgora was 3rd the year after. I do agree with you that BL blew his top in the race agaist sea pigeon.
Cheers mimas.

Just one investment today in the end which thankfully was a winner, ie - Little Edward at 9/4.

*** having a few days away. Taking Guest`s advice and getting away from it all. Just booked a little hotel in Torquay for 4 days. 5 hour drive to look forward to ***

Cheers and good luck to all,

hedgehog,

what was the class of the previous soft win.

on my reckoning the performance when sixth was almost identical to its previous performance on that ground.

the may race showed a significant improvement on last years form.

the last race was a poor attempt to conceal it

all in all a consistent improving horse

Barney,
You wont have much of a break from the racing if you bump into KJC (kjconway) or INVICTA (eric) from the racing-systems forum as they both live over there! cool

Not too much vino. It doesn`t help those brain cells.

I`ve found a cryptic expert in Torquay so it will be a piece of cake on my return.

As if !

Have a good one,

Cheers,

Guest.

I have NEVER said any one element is the only factor. I do agree with a lot of what you say. The s/f is only used as a marker of what the horse is capable of in the class being looked at. I also agree that many times it is obvious, and the ratings are not needed, but it is nice to have conformation from more than one source.

I don't know about you, but many times I have watched a race, and thought that looked good. Then when I have compiled the s/f, the time hasn't been as fast as it looked. Then the form hasn't worked out as first hoped for.

I don't want to push the point, but I do think a lot of your thinking about SP is down to you needing BL to be out of form. I can see the hard race, too many races, etc. My way you don't have to make all these calculations. In, or out of form, he just was never good enough.

111 LEGS

Yes, it's to late to back SP, but it's not to late to learn from the examples. :-)

Barney.

Don't quite know why you thought Night Of Vision was a Mtoto bet. Using the method today I highlighted 3 horses One was in your one horse race, you where right about that, it was a one horse race. The other 2 where in the same race, should have listened to Determined. This is where preconceived ideas are the downfall of the punter. Calcutta has let me down in the past, ducking out when coming to win a race last year. The OR's and s/f's did give 2 winners from 3 runners. I had 1 and was on the wrong one in the other.

Can't agree about vdw's other ratings. He gave a lot of things away free, BUT not THEM.

Be Lucky

mtoto,

well done with your winners, your right about determined i should have payed more attention.Too busy posting instead of looking.

a couple of things you say are puzzling me,

how can you get BL not good enough and out of form but not get gossamer the same and zenda as good enough to beat it.

when you can work out son of love why can you not see sophisticat they are almost identical.

like i said before the factors i use run through all vdw's examples.Dont mistake lack of experience and temperament for not knowing.
I have only been at it seven months. When I get to your age I hope I am as good as you.
