Two winners each month, and an overall winner for the year, for:

1) Strike Rate
2) Profit

RULES

1. Qualifying for the month needs a minimum of 5 races to have selection(s) in.

2. Qualifying for the year needs a minimum of 60 races to have selection(s) in.

3. Any Strike Rate winners MUST be in profit, even if it is 1p.

4. Dutching is permitted, but remember, you use 1 point per selection.

5. Strike rate is by race, not horse, so dutching 3 in a race that produces a winner is one winning bet, BUT only so long as it produces a profit (using 1 point per selection - no fancy staking for the Challenge please). If the dutched bet loses, it loses (regarless of whether it would have been profitable) and is taken as one losing bet. If it wins, but fails to show a profit over the 1 point per selection, then it is a NO BET!!!

6. Each Way is permitted, but that is 2 points per selection.

7. Clear selections only. Do not write "I quite like the look of Westender". If you do, it will be a non-refundable selection, win, lose or draw!!!

8. Talking of "draw", in that situation, the odds will be halved, but it will still be considered a win (point 5 above would only apply if the profit could not be made at full odds - couldn't predict a draw!).

9. Selections of any sort are welcome. That is they do not have to be VDW style selections.

10. Personal abuse to be kept on the other threads. In the event, 1 pt deductions may be made by the self-appointed moderator of this particular thread (i.e. me)!!!!!

11. Ftse100 is banned. He's too good for the VDW forum, and anyway, I'd like to have a chance of winning. (Only joking)

Expectations: I do not expect anyone to demonstrate 80% (except Ftse that is). But what would be interesting as the months go on is if peoples strike rates improve as they attempt to better their previous months efforts. (This assumes I will not be the only one making selections of course!)

Prizes: The honour of winning, with perhaps an e-vdw-certificate commemorating the fact!

Rule 12 - SP Stipulations may be made (and I'm going to make one!). The competition looks at two aspects - Strike Rate AND Profit. I think both are important, and price is something we would factor into our "real-time" betting when looking for a profit.

A few further thoughts...

You can have any number of selections per day, in however many races you like - must be U.K. and Ireland though. Flat Turf, All Weather and National Hunt are all OK.

You can withdraw a selection provided it's done before the off of course (jockey or going change for instance, or whatever).

Betting Bank of 200 points. In other words, if you get to minus 200, you are out!

I would like to say something,There is a poster on this forum who i have respected for a niumber of years who claims 83.7% s/r using vdw's methods for the last 3 YEARS.He even as the arrogance to say that he can change the market on course and gets 20% above the average punter.i want this man to come forward and prove once and for all that the figures that vdw said were achievable are not ficticious.Being as he also claims that there are only 3 people in the country that know what he does (his words) so come on my friend show us the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.
