Now I haven't been particularly interested in VDW, although I have read through his methods and the threads. Some of it has permeated through and I suppose I do keep these pointers in the back of my mind.

Last Friday I was looking through the RP selection box tipsters and noted that Hyperion of the Independent managed a profit of around 30pts for Friday. Looking at his picks, I tried to work out where he was coming from as they were often quite different from the majority. Frixos 6/1, Beckley 10/1, Pontius 16/1, were among the winners. Of the day's 20 races he had 17 in the frame out of 19 with one N/R. Quite remarkable.

I looked to see if I could find any clues to how he picked them and searched through the usual Adrian Massey, Topspeed, Postdata etc., but the big winners he had were not top rated anywhere. Looking at form, they all seemed to have comments similar to Biotech's observations above, except for maidens where breeding seemed to be the main method used. Yesterday, he wasn't as successful but we all know Sat. racing can be different. A loss of 13pts. on all selections and some 3 N/R However, odds against betting only gave a a -2.1pt loss. Ad Hoc, Seebald, Indian Creek, and Trooper being good priced winners.

Thoughts that strike me are that maybe these newspaper tipsters use computer programmes to get their selections out the night before and Hyperion is using something like Pro-punter. Also, for those interested in Biotech's comments it may help save time to look at Hyperion's picks first.

Of course this is only what I've picked up over the last two days and reading this thread, but I think it worthy of further investigation. Maybe the beginnings of a system?

Now to Pro-punter. I have an Atari emulator prog. for my PC (still have an Atari in the loft) and may have an Amiga emulator prog too. They were downloaded for free on the internet after doing a search some years back. If anyone is interested I will dig them out and send them as an attachment - although I'm not sure what size they are and there may be updated versions out. OTOH, if anyone has the old Pro-punter for Atari (or Amiga if not) and would be so kind as to send a copy as an email attachment to me I would be grateful.

PS. Just realised that sending an Atari prog as an attachment may not be possible. A copy of a floppy disk via snail mail is though.

I love it when the subject is about PC`s and what they do. I`m really into it these days, I`ve given up sex, drinkin and smokin for it, I`ve got no time for anything else.

Just so you no I`m gettin off on this as well as everyone else, I want you 2 kno I`ve got a 107E, so there, and underneath with a few other switches I`ve never used , it says Philips, beat that!! oh, I`m only talkin about my screen so far, but get this, it`s in colour (sorry , don`t want to appear to posh) The bit that makes the whiiiirrrring noise is pretty flash 2, lots of little flat trays that go in and out when ever I press them (does yours do that?) There`s a little round button 2, it didn`t fool me for a minute, it`s the one the experts use, it says "power", I don`t waste my time with anything else, 2 clever for that.

I did once look at the instruction manual but it was like everythin else, just for thickies, it`s been long since used an flushed away.

So If anyone wants 2 figure out how to use the on/off button, I`m yer man.

There is 1 thing that pisses me off though and that is when I`ve made a post an I switch off at the mains, it takes for ever the next time I switch it on 2 get logged on 2 Gummy again, it tells me I might have lost everything but that`s bollocks cos I look around an my dogs still here fartin and there`s still a pile of empty Merlot bottles around mi feet,. But I`ve written a snotogram to bil in america so I`ll soon hav that sussed.

In the mean time, I know I`ve only got one friend and the rest of the board thinks I`m an idiot, I aren`t saying who those people r though. But hey, my friend might be the idiot, then what?

It`s been a good day today, those that believe have been and prayed (for the likes of me.) My local landlord has done his duty and I`ve managed to find my way home. My only complaint is to the BBC, what the phuk do we want to watch Celtic VS Rangers 4?

3 legs you are astounding with your mastery of technology. You also have the advantage over us bi-pedal folk as we are more likely to fall over staggering home from the pub (where you've given up drinking)... and yes mine's got one of them little trays that go in and out for your coffee cup... as advertised on telly. It's even got a smaller slot underneath to put the envelopes in for my emails!

66, I`m not sure you`re right about that last point. If you haven`t already flushed your instruction manual, I think you`ll find it`s an ashtray, thickie!

Nice to find a thread where the real VDW issues are discussed, even though you already appear to have attracted a couple of the 'psueds'. I am tempted to start posting again myself, but I fear that may act as a magnet to the poseurs from the main thread.

If this was boxing we`d now be in the 15th round but it should have been stopped midway through the 1st when poor old Investor was knocked unconsious and has remained that way ever since.
