Has anyone else noticed that Barney's posts have become more intelligible recently?

Good for you mate,Just going back to an earlier post when i made a point about polar jem,Take a look at the 4.20 at ponte.Taking into consideration "class".This horse had been running the likes of Millenary to 5 lgs dropped into a 9 grand class c.And the rest is history. Wink

You obviously know your stuff and do very well,I'm not picking bones but Pushkin finished Plumb last lto to horses such as Sendintank.Where as Corrib eclipse had been running group 1 horses to 5 lgs.Just giving an opposite point of view and i hope you take it in the way it as meant. Smile

Investor,

To me 'form' is almost always worthless. The only 'form' I take seriously is 'winning' or 'bad luck' or 'near winning' form.

'Form' is only a record of where and when the trainer placed the horse. Most of these times the horses can in no way be considered to have been seriously trying.

However 'winning form' usually discloses a horses ideal or near ideal conditions, depending of course on the quality of the opposition.

As a result I dont like to waste much time reading form (what the horse did) but prefer to look at the organ-grinder.

Fair enough mate,But the organ -grinder isn't always the answer. You say on a lot of occasions form is worthless. It isn't my friend. Now let's forget sire stats or even that t race has run.We have 2 horses A and B

Horse A Ab rating 170 btn last time out 17 lgs in a class B handicap by a horse with an ab rating of 42

Horse B ab rating 203 finishing within 6 lgs of a horse with an ab rating of 640 in group company.

The above is from a vdw perspective,And you won't like this but pushkin had no chance mate,Finished 2nd fair enough but it had to pull out all the stops if it was going to beat Corrib eclipse.

I don't know if youv'e read any of the books,But he tells you of the school athlete that comes up against the olmypian. And the club darts champ who keeps winning in the pubs. But then comes up against the proffesional.

I'll put the books in the post as soon as your ready,It wouldn't take you ng to grasp the subject once youv'e gone through some of the examples. You would enjoy it,And you'd definately have a different view on vdw that's a promise. Smile

The organ grinder decides the music, but it's the monkey that does the collecting, and if he isn't good enough, he won't! Ergo, it is no use considering the organ grinder without considering the monkey. Big Grin
Listen to the man!

We ve been over this subject thoroughly in the last 100 pages so theres not much point in repeating ourselves but I ve deliberately tried to irritate the old crowd pointing out two top class races where form/vdwology was thrown out of the window or where they were too sore from previous spankings to venture a selection. Why?

Because the monkey is only a visible part of the Organ Grinders show. But if you want to hear the Organ Grinders music you ve got to look elsewhere.

Investor,

You are addicted to aftertiming, and believe me its not good for you!

When The Prince won the time before last and you thought that was because of its form figs and I showed you it was for another reason that caused the only other selection of that method to win too, though its form figs were only 656. The name of that horse was Moors Myth in the 440R. Now please analyze the form of that race in the same way as you do Pushkins....

Once again: "a horse only wins after a 'mind' has arranged it to."

(During the Nat Hunt version this theory threw up Maximize w40/1, 67/1 bf)

I remember Swish had some fun a few months back following horses whose last three form figs were ppp over the jumps. And he was only following them willy nilly, if he'd bothered to look at the trainers....
