Johnd

The fundamental issue is not respective competence, but conducting a civilised "conversation" on the thread, on which I've made what seem to me to be reasonable proposals. Ball in your court.

As regards my competence as an historian, just as with my backing of Spirit Leader on her first win this year, I have irrefutable evidence, including my PhD certificate, publications, and (most recent of all) the paper I gave on 7 July to the 17th Annual Conference of the Institute of Contemporary British History. If Jimmy or you can show remotely comparable credentials, you might be taken seriously.

Statajack

Have you calculated JIB's rate of return from his housing investment? IF I've got it right (and I'm happy to be corrected on this, in which case what follows of course falls), Rachman is alive and well in Brazil.

Bearing in mind the relatively small percentage that did pass, "nearly" passing probably makes you intellectually more accomplished than Johnd or Jimmy.

Dr Fulham,

It would be appreciated when replying to one of my posts if you would refrain from having a dig at your detractors, so that that then becomes the sailient point of the post.

A Trojan horse as it were.

Thanks

Dr Fulham,

Quite, but obviously no match for Clytemnestra/Aegisthus.

    Fulham,
I wonder if your features have become disfigured from talking out of the corner of your mouth so much.
    Poverty
    Flappyjack,
Would you like me to pay for your fare? Let me know if mummy puts her foot down this time.

Don't bank on it.

JIB

Possibly, but at least I don't talk out of my backside, as you, Jimmy and Johnd talk out of yours.

    High King of Mycenae
    111,
Agamemnon liked to boast about what a great hunter he was. This so offended Artemis (the god of the chase) that his and his armies luck (in this case in the form of the wind) was changed.
Agamemnon became so desperate to save his skin he was prepared to sacrifice his daughter when tempted with this solution by the gods.
Our own dear colleague falls a little short in daring, being only bold enough to surreptiously undermine his host. The boasting though looks as good as, if not better than, the original.

JiB,

Electra and her brother Orestes may not have avenged the murder of Agamemnon had they known of these un-fatherly thoughts.

    111,
Missplaced pride is a common thread in most of these tragedies. The first victim being our heroes objectivity, and the last, after much suffering to all concerned, being our hero himself.
However not everything has improved since these times. The wisdom of the ancients demanded that weakly infants who were likely as adults to become spotty-faced wankers and burdens to the state were exposed on open hillsides.

I`d like to have on my wall a letter off WH, Dear 111, we`re closing your account.....

As it is it`s nearly all one way traffic, I send him hundreds of £`s, he sends me a diary once a year.

Sad innit

It`s not so much a case of poacher turned gamekeeper, more a case of: there`s phuk all worth poaching.

Down to the dregs of my first bottle of Merlot now. I read somewhere once that most of the worlds recognised genius`s attributed there best work to this state (half pissed). Perhaps an alternative route to the Alfa state, so long as it doesn`t involve anything physical, sorry darlin a shag`s out of the question..

Did anyone back Most Saucy tonight? I had 4 losers prior to it, but I use CD`s staking plan, so now I`m on my 2nd bottle.

Just had a thought, (genius) what a dickhead posting a winner after the race (on this thread).

Post Gummy a £10 chq payable to "The Army Benevolent fund" and I`ll prove it to his satisfaction or my chq to the same is for £100.
