£1,000 start bank on 01/01/2010, staking 10%. I will be (and have been) backing these and this will be a real-time log.

So records will be kept according to the price obtained when posting, not SP, although - like todays - may vary by a few pence either way if I used BF (or whatever real life situations happen along the way).

They will mostly be short-priced. No surprises from BC there!

Selections to date were posted on the public forum here, except today's runner, the summary was as follows:

Summary to 23/02/2010
Races 7, Wins 5, SR 71%, Bank £970.50

Today's was PM'd to KP before I had access to this section.

Lingfield,355,Handsome Cross £100 @2/5

Lingfield,355,Handsome Cross £100 @2/5 W +38.80

Summary:
Races 8, Wins 6, SR 75%, Bank £1009.30

Edited: I was going to show these from a £100 bank, although I am actually betting from £1,000 bank. So I have corrected it all today.

Hereford,430,Gus Macrae £97 @ 8/15

Gus Macrae should win this easily, but taking a small cover on the more likely of the newcomers 'Diamond Eclipse' £4 @ 38.0, with Betfair prices allowing me to make the bet a dutch without affecting possible profit too much.

Cheltenham,130,Dunguib £112 some at 5/6 and 1/1
I have also taken some Paddy Power "fire insurance" (stakes refunded if Dunguib wins) out on Get me out of here and Oskar Whiskey, which in the unlikely event of Dunguib losing to either of them, will repay most of the bet.

Hi BC
I think the ground is against Denman, i think it had a tough race in the GC & i dont think the jockey is the right 1 for this horse. Joncol i think has been laid out for the race, Cooldine who i bet(along with Imperial) in our GC, once its chance had gone wasnt pushed too hard & Rare Bob i liked its run at Aintree last week plus as i said i'm a fool & i'd much rather say this before the race & get egg on my face as against a i told u so after timed post if Denman lost
all the best
Larry
ps got a few days off got time on my hands so i'm no doubt over analysing the race

No, Larry. Don't be daft. You're comments are fine.

I've been through it again, and can't see it though - so I'm sticking with the big man. :)

I read that wrong in about 100 ways, no jockey not even Walsh would have got Denman that close, it jumped badly never travelled McCoy got it into 4th place when most would have given up, my personal opinion is Denman is finished as a top class chaser & its only his heart that gets keeps him competetive in grade 1 races. My 3 including 1nr were nowhere so all in all my reading of the race was CRAP

Don't beat yourself up Larry. Let me do it. ;D

We can't get them all right.

Denman was 2nd in the Cheltenham Gold Cup, so I think "finished as a top class chaser" might be a bit of a knee-jerk reaction. Remember, it is only a few months since Denman carried top weight to victory in the Henessey. But indeed, time catches up with us all and Imperial Commander is now the King.

We were both well off today. But in true Terminator fashion, let's just say: "we'll be back".

Nice to see War of Attrition in 2nd for his final bow.

BC :)

In the GC i reckoned 3 horses could beat Denman, they were Kauto Star, Imperial Commander & Cooldine, 1 fell,1 did, 1 didnt, as for Denman being finished may have been an over reaction but i honestly dont think Denman will ever beat Kauto Star, Imperial Commander or Cooldine, & Carruthers, Planet of Sound, Joncol will also give him a fight & in top class chases he will always meet 1 of these. He was a great champion & many a horse went on too long look how tragically Best Mates career ended, in all honesty i'd kill for the prize money Denman will get for finishing 2nd or 3rd in top class chases, but do Paul Barber & Harry Findlay need that money all the while risking making Denman another tragic statistic. Remember BC he was being touted for the Grand & Scottish Nationals which although both are loved by the nation are really top class handicaps. WoA is 11 & was retired(gloriously) today, no one gave him a chance in any grade 1 races this year against the younger guns, when Denman next competes in grade 1's he will be 11, he will also be better off plodding round in long distance top class hcps looking after his "dodgy" heart.
After writing this piece i sincerely hope i'm proved wrong but i dont think i will be.
BC please please please keep up the good work you are 1 of the few people on the net that i sit up & take notice of, & i am glad that i dont always agree with you but i do always respect your opinion.
all the best
Larry
