Dear Mtoto,
I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I found this verse a comfort when I lost my mother: Do not stand at my grave and weep, I am not there, I do not sleep. I am in a thousand winds that blow, I am the softly falling snow. I am the gentle showers of rain, I am the fields of ripening grain. I am in the morning hush, I am in the graceful rush Of beautiful birds in circling flight, I am the starshine of the night. I am in the flowers that bloom, I am in a quiet room. I am in the birds that sing, I am in each lovely thing. Do not stand at my grave and cry, I am not there. I do not die. Mary Frye (alternative version) Prediction is hard. Especially the future. |

Ah can mind what ma mum and dad were like when we lost oor Kenny one oh ma older brothers aged 21 died 1978 in a car crash. It was Friday 13th and he was sittin wi us at the dinner table at 5.30pm jokin away as he always wid. After dinner he went tae pick up his fiance fae her work - hit black ice on a secluded road lost control oh the car and that wis him.
Police knocked at the door at 10pm the same night tae tell ma mum and dad that he was gone. Ah dinnae think they ever got over it but as time passed they were able tae get by in their own way. It`s a guid job we dinnae ken what`s in front oh us - his best m8 was killed in a road accident aboot 15 yr at the back oh him on a black Friday as well. |

I obviously didn't know that, and I truly am sorry. My condolences to Mtoto and his family; no one deserves that, and the next few years are going to be very, very hard for them. |

All I can say is thanks for your kind words. One of the reasons (although I know some of you knew Danny through the "Peach" forum) I didn't say who had died was I was hoping I could find somewhere where he wasn't being mentioned.
Today was bad for us as when United lost there was no sarcy text saying "oh bad luck" + no phone call asking was Major Cadeaux a lay? I know if I had said I thought there was to much against him winning, he would have piled in he just loved laying. He used to frighten me to death. Anyway thanks to you all, and the folk who have e-mailed me, I will get back to you as soon as possible. Be Lucky |

A rather poor day's racing with the 4.00 Leicester the only race of interest to me.
Of the 12 runners three are in my view probables with form: Irish Pearl, Mission Impossible and Credit Swap, and of these Irish Pearl scores both on ability (the standard AR and the time/merit ancillary rating) and recent form. Last time out, Irish Pearl came a close 2nd in a class 54, which makes winning today's class 49 plausible, but that form was not supported by that of the winner, Regal Royale whom previously had come fifth of six in a class 26 race. So I see Irish Pearl as well short of the strength needed for a bet. |

Like you say, George, a poor race.
No bet in it for me, but Artsu, EW, would be my pick. Spencer/Bell. Definitely, nothing in it for vdw-ers. |

Noticed this in the RP
Stuart Williams has yet to decide whether to let Saturday's Portland hero Hogmaneigh take his chance under a 5lb penalty. The five-year-old also has the option of the Dubai Duty Free 25th Anniversary World Trophy at Newbury on the same day but Williams says no plans will be made until Wednesday. "He has come out of the race in good form and I will speak with the owners on Wednesday evening and decide where to run him," said Williams. "He has had all sorts of problems with his feet this year and it has been frustrating as the horse has been in fantastic form apart from his feet. "They held up well at the weekend with his new shoes from America. They were originally designed by Nasa, so they are quite hi-tech - but they seem to do the job anyway!" What the fk is Nasa making horse shoes for? Something else you wont find in the formbook lol |
