Imagine

When you get to the line "and no religion too", replace it with "and no V D W too".

I see you have removed the post now, but when you "reported me to the moderator" why did you not think to report the vile post preceding it, (Penned, of course, by one of these morons you were so keen to support, and the reason for my retort to you)?

Your post directed to me stuck in my throat for a few days, (you will recall what you said to me, no doubt), so I had the arse with you. Sorry about that, but I did. Of course, it is YOUR right to report an abusive post directed at you. And perhaps you should.

I removed yesterday's post after reading/listening to WP's Inxs post on the SB thread, and thought 'yes, we are ALL of us sinners from time to time - time to move on'.

Johnd - I posted VDW quotations. If you feel they "supported" other members, then you'll have to ask yourself 'why' you felt that. They were, after all, only direct quotes from the booklets, with nothing added.

Imagine a church member witnessing an argument between a devout member of the congregation he attends and an atheist. Which one would he assume would be more inclined to follow Jesus' words?

never mind these horses that finished in front of AS..I'm sorry but running BEHIND horses tells us little...I can run BEHIND Linford Christie...but my actual FORM would only carry any relevance by judging who I actually beat.

what actually finished behind AS in that race?..what did he beat?...Moyenne Corniche ...who finished 3rd... had previously been buried ..finished last in a listed race...that is not good form...and yet was just 3/4l behind your class/form horse???

just because a decent horse wins a race..you cannot just tag a horse on to it's tail like you have here..you also have to look directly behind your horse to make sure it's not a selling plater licking it's arse.

Some interesting points in this EC. Whilst I agree with your last line, what a hoese finishes behind and in what circumstances can tell us a lot.

Many people get bogged down in the 'numerical pictures' of VDW analysis but the single most important discipline that it taught me was always to think like a trainer, to study the placement through the trainers eyes, what's he trying to achieve by running in this race.

We all know horses are not always there to win and there are many reasons why they are placed in certain races that they have no real chance of winning. Sometimes it might be as simple as running for a lower handicap mark in the future or in many group races hoping to run within a few lengths of a good class horse in a muddling race to boost the sale price. But let's look at how trainers work to bring their horse to peak fitness. There are varied ways of doing this depending on what you are trying to achieve. If you want to induce more stamina you'll run in races longer than ideal to build this up, if you want to induce more speed then conversely you'll run over shorter trips. Athletes will do this all the time, a 400m runner won't spend his whole life just running 400 metres, he'll run a few 800 metres to help stamina, a few 200 metres to work on his speed etc.

Now let's say you were the trainer of a good class mile handicapper. You've done your ground work on the gallops, maybe had a few racecourse appearances to sharpen the horse up and now you think you have your horse just about ready to go out and win a good handicap prize. What would you do next if you were the trainer?

Would you just look for a suitable race and hope for the best? What if you've got it wrong! Your horse is 95% but not quite there and you get touched off by a length or two. Oops, a nice few lb rise in the weights for your troubles.

So what if you wanted a bit more reassurance first what would you do? run over the trip, the wrong going, the wrong track? All useful in bringing your horse on but can you get an accurate take on your horse on the wrong ground etc?

I'm not sure what you'd do.... but I know what I would do....

I'd find a good class race that would give me a real yardstick. I'd want a horse in there that would give me a good benchmark. Ideally I'd like a horse, preferably favourite, that I absolutely new was in form and running over it's ideal conditions, I'd try to find a race that should have a decent pace and one where my benchmark horse had proven it's current well-being by winning a decent race last time.

Now, if things went to plan in that race, my benchmark horse won but had to work to do so, the pace was good and my horse got within a reasonable distance of the winner, I'd be a lot more confident to then go for my target race. Even if that final prep didn't go 100% to plan then I still reckon it would tell me more than running on the wrong ground or on a track my horse wouldn't handle. It would also tell me a lot more than running behind a horse I couldn't be sure of.

Think like a trainer, always ask the question why, it's one of the most important lessons to learn.

If someone offers you £20 and you don't take it, whose £20 is it.
It's the same with insults?
The abuse doesn't bother me, the warped mind of the sewer-rat that posted that particular piece of filth does, and should not be encouraged by anyone, anywhere.

Jd,

Mtoto has lost his son Danny.

I imagine you can understand why he doesn't feel like betting at the moment. He is using internet forums to try and dissipate the pain by occupying his mind with things that allow him a span of relief from his grief.

If you are itching for verbal fisticuffs with someone, not only am I at your disposal, but will be happy to oblige you.

Bob,

When you said you'd lost someone close, I didn't realise it was THAT close.

I'm devastated for you and can only imagine what you're going through. Nobody should have to face losing their kids first.

My thoughts are with you in this difficult time.
