This one is a bit 'off-method' today as according to VDW the races I ought to consider are the Sandown 2.20, 3.30, Warwick 4.20, but in the first 2 the prices will be short and the 4.20 I am saving for my price guide assessment. This race is not a G Hall 'key'race>

Warwick 3.45 Feb 22
Stars
5 Amber Brook, headway chased ridden challenged LTO. Running well and getting weight. WON 11/10
5 Oniphlaure, headway driven kept on LTO. Has been running well and should not be ignored.
4 Orchard King, chased ridden blundered soon headed LTO. Others probably better today
2 Snargate
1 Bulwark
1 Overton Lad

The one factor against Amber Brook is being a mare competing against geldings, but that's a personal bias, backed up by stats I should say.

Had a look at this one as it is a G Hall 'key' race, although I don't usually attempt 18-runner hcap hurdle races.

Sandown 4.05 Feb 22
Stars
5 Scots Dragoon, going for 4 on-the-trot and should go well but very short odds for such a contest
4 Call Oscar, recently back from a 2 year lay-off, so tough call today, D?
3 Pagano, progressive and could be more improvement to come. WON 11/1
3 Mind How You Go, can make mistakes but not ruled out, D?

It is highly likely the winner will come from this four Cool

Another G Hall 'key'race.

Kempton 2.40 Feb 23
Stars
5 Hobbs Hill, made virt all drew clear easily LTO. Improver that sets a high standard. FELL
5 Lead On, not fluent hard driven stayed on gamely LTO. More needed today
5 Pur De Sivola, driven headway clear comfortably LTO. Improver with a tougher task today.
1 Oslot
1 Pancake

Kempton 3.15 Feb 23
Stars
4 Gungadu, weight increase and RH course? WON 4/1
4 Bagan, good hcap mark
4 Burntoakboy, good hcap mark
3 Simon, C&D won this last year
3 Wee Robbie, reasonable hcap mark

Rather out of sync the platform for this race and not a G Hall key race, but expect winner to come from this short list

Paul,

G Hall 'key' races are nothing more than my opinion, which I will keep to myself if you don't mind.

Of the type of race advised for consideration by VDW this one is the only G Hall 'key' race today IMO.

Kempton 3.05 Feb 24
Stars
4 Art Man, headway ridden held, OK off current mark
3 Scamperdale, headway ridden driven out. Hat-trick and a contender WON 4/1
3 Bee Stinger, led headed faded. Not certain to stay?
3 Moonlight Man, ridden ran on under pressure to lead. D is a concern?

Hereford today, where my mother-in-law lived, so we are on a downer to start with Frown . Not only that racing always seems poor at the course.
To top it all it's Monday and we are down to a class 4 novice chase, nota G Hall 'key' race either.

Hereford 3.00 Feb 25
Stars
5 Fabulous Jet, C&D improver, made all soon clear unchallenged penultimate race. Raced 4 times already this month and another quick return is a lot to ask. FELL when tiring
4 Josear, chased led one pace LTO. Improver with more to do at the weights. WON 8/1
4 Malakiya, held up ridden never troubled leaders LTO. Disappointed fencing needs to bounce here. 2nd 11/1

It is difficult to keep the run of postings going by finding a suitable race every day and today is no exception. A class 3 nov chase and not a 'key' race IMO.

Leicester 3.50 Feb 26
Stars
5 Sheriff Roscoe, headway led stayed on LTO. C&D but disqualified and sets the standard for this race.
5 Cathedral Rock, led headed left in lead drew away not fluent ridden out penultimate race. has the ability to win this if at his best.
5 Burren Legend, reluctant close up mistakes outpaced one-paced. Was a fair hurdler but a bit short of the top two today WON 5/1
2 Desert Tommy
1 Double Intruder
0 Ellies Horse

Attempting a 3yo hcap on the AW today mainly because it is a 'key' race IMO. Stars are out of 6 today as I have included an extra one for speed class.

Wolverhampton 5.00 Feb 27
Stars
5 Little Wing, smooth headway led soon clear easily LTO. iImprover, impressive at Southwell.
5 Bussell Up, tracked leaders went through gap driven clear LTO. Impressive LTO
5 Fathsta, pulled hard ridden no headway LTO. C&D has claims on best efforts. Filly versus males?
4 Ten Pole Tudor, chased weakened 4th to Fathsta LTO. C&D2 in minor races but others look stronger today
2 Upper Class WON 7/2
1 Ocean Transit
1 Hit The Roof

Do you take grades and weight into consideration

I picked Little Wing as my bet of the day in Sparkies tipping comp.

My only worry was that he wouldn't transfer Sands form at Southwell to the Polytrack at Wolves - he didn't , and ran like a drain Frown

I have said elswhere that given similar conditions, a horse will reproduce the form of his last run - the conditions wern't similar !

Looking back at the race, I am kicking myself that I didn't look at the owner of Johnsons horse !!!

Johnson , Shk Mohamed and Lingfield are a very powerfull combination, the buying price, often being a strong indicator.

That's interesting, TC.

I often look at the owners, as I think this can be a significant factor.
Didn't see yesterday's race, but like most, I had the short-priced fav well clear. The winner was on my shortlist, though, and, in at least one place, it was top-rated.

You are probably right about the change in conditions, but I have to admit that I was surprised the fav didn't even place.

Finally, regarding owners and trainers, I'm looking at Art Modern,
410 Lingfield, Thursday,28th, purely on this basis.
In fact, my selection in the race would probably be Maslak ( another one with a decent strike rate), so it will be interesting to see what happens.

The answer is yes to a limited extent. After narrowing the field I check the last 3 results of the possibles, mainly the last race. Looking for comments about runners making a race of it in the last 2 furlongs, particularly those that quicken.
If a horse is not in with a chance I look for reasons such as blundering, mistakes or not getting an opening, in which case I will go on to the penultimate race and so on.
I probably don't check the trainers as much as I should do.

I checked this race for you my way with limited effect. If you consider £Class to be critical the top 3 are out of it whereas on form ratings the bottom 4 don't count. However, it is forecast by the racing Post as a restricted race where the winner will come from Nos 1, 3 or 4.
Stars
4 Tilapia, trainer/jockey 53/24%, won driven to lead stayed on strongly LTO. Has to be respected
4 Masalak, trnr/jck 40/15%, won waited headway to lead ridden out. C&D could go close. WON 2/1
3 La Estrelle, trnr/jck 75/10%, off track AW 2 months, soon outpaced no impression penultimate race. Chance to be thereabouts.
3 Art Modern, C&D goes well fresh, off track 138 days?
3 Generals Lad, C&D hold-up horse?
3 Prince Charlemagne, stamina to prove?
2 Bazart, Top £Class not shown anything for a long time, dropping down the hcap

The Lingfield 5.10 race would not be a G Hall 'key'race IMO.
