Black Cat

Thanks for the welcome and the information.
I will have a look at that site. I'm currently looking at some of the older VDW threads on here to familiarise myself with the numerous takes on this subject. Has this much ever before been written on a single approach to racing? It could take weeks to read it all.

Seanrua

Hi. Yes I am familiar with VDW but I am still looking for enlightenment. This is the umpteenth time that I am re visiting his methods. Wish I had joined sooner. Will help if I can but it is likely that it will be me learning from you and the other members.

Hell, John!

I was relying on you for the Christmas dinner!

As you plough thru the thread you've probably noticed that my rough attempts at vdw methodology had less than brilliant results.

So, while successful vdwers, like investor/pro and johnd, are tucking into their turkey in someplace like Acapulco, it'll be the old baked beans on toast for me!

Hmmm.

All i could see, without registering, was a big sign saying

"Buy books by Jock Bingham and vdw".

Don't tell me that's the fkn missing key!?!

Hello everybody,

Old friends and foes alike.

I would like to bury the hatchet and turn over a new leaf if thats possible.

Some may know who pkboy is, for those who dont you may have read some of my other stuff in various places which was posted as Vanman and Barney.

NOw I know won or tu will be spluttering in their cornflakes or quickly penning a long verse when a couple of words will do.

But hey, do you want to move FORWARD or what?

Hi Rab,

No. fraid not, no body can afford them where I live.

I have decided to take this board by the scruff of the neck and raise it Phoenix like from the ashes.

I will inject a witty and knowledgable mix of historcal example , dispel a few current myths and hopefully find a winner or two.

hi all,
I first came across vdw in the schb in the late seventies. I could not understand it then but started looking at it again recently. I now understand it a lot better and am finding a few winners with it now . Still learning though but today I found blue spinnaker (won7-1 ) and levera (won 10-11) . I think there is definatley something in it but it does require a lot of work . Anyway best of luck everyone .

welcome ray.

this thread has died the death - and for one reason only .

Members claiming to gain profit from VDW , have posted their winnings - after the event !!

Not one single member has been able to post his VDW selections prior to the race, and achieve a decent strike rate.

No one yet has been able to prove that VDW "Works".

The method is currently the subject of "Derision" on this forum !!

-

Personaly I think that lots can be learned from the VDW writings,

but I don't belive that a "Method" is contained within them. !!

-

come on somebody - "Prove me wrong " !!!!

VDW Methodology

I am not what you could call a VDW fanaticbut I was a punter of 28 years standing before he arrived on the scene in 1978, and I have read all of his SCHB correspondence over the years. There is a race today that G Hall would probably see as a 'key' race so I have put it through the basic VDW methodology to narrow the field and create a platform. Starred out of 5 factors - 1st six in the RPR betting forecast, £Class, consistency, RPR, D Mail Formcast:

Southwell 3.50 Feb 12

Stars
5 Kabeer, progress from halfway and kept on last time out in a fast race. (reared up start lost all chance).
4 Bo McGinty, ran on and just failed last time out in a slow race
3 Cornus
3 Evens And Odds
2 Sandrey
2 Crimson King
2 Lucayos

The selection is Kabeer but you could dutch the first 2 I suppose.

I think this shows the problem, Jack.

The "best" horse doesn't always win. Perhaps this is why bookmaking has survived so long.

BoMcGinty was the Class Horse and it was also in form but there were two significant problems. One was the distance (a poor record at 6f) and the other was Bo's position in the live market. The former was enough to decide that this was not a race bet in.

Lingfield 4.40 Feb 13

This is a class 5 race on the polytrack surface and definitely not a key race.
Stars
5 Highland Harvest, class horse in race, C&D, should go well WON 7/4
5 Wrighty Almighty, on a good mark
5 Paradise Dancer, C&D and not impossible today
5 Onenightinlisbon, looks vulnerable today
3 Epidaurian King, best efforts of shorter D, looks vulnerable

Should we go for the class runner?
