Hi BC,

The last3formfigs thing was the bit from VDW that I like the least, so it was just a personal feeling.

Maybe I'm being too begrudging, but I won't be surprised if it's just a blip.
Again, perhaps it's something that works best on a strange track, where the going has been describes as "soft", "loose" and " like a road".

Milton Bradley's point about the stewarding is valid, too. Some of the bumping that went on would have been penalised at Wolver.
I'm not complaining, though.

Btw, I should give the credit for using "12" as the max number for last 3 form figures total to Mtoto.

I feel this is a reasonable figure, if we are to use the recent place positions at all.

Is Mtoto still here?

good job you are here Sean.

things have certainly changed since Gummy insisted on no aftertiming..seems to have thinned the chat right out..no one wants to commit before the races anymore..more credit to you Sean for having a bit of bottle..maybe thats the MISSING LINK..bottle drink

"The fact there has been precious little discussion of either, in recent weeks, is due, in no small part, to the manic outbursts of one member, Ectoo, who has no interest in the subject, and no other apparent aim apart from the destruction of this forum."

... and of course, despite his repeated, (and deleted), undertakings to leave this, and other, fora, keeps coming back.

Pontefract 3:45

I thought I'd have a look at a race or two this week, time permitting. Despite looking promising at first, the one I've selected today had a disappointing conclusion.

Key: CR / AR (RPM / TS) Betting forecast(3) --- last run(s) analysis

Doohulla 18 / 0 (93*/no) --- 68 7f unpl
Shrink 4* / 50* (94*/87*) 2nd f --- 36 5f 2nd
Maddies a Jem 19 / 40* (94* / no) --- 56 6f unpl / 68 6f 2nd
Rancho Cuc. 9* / 40* (no / 94*) 3rd f --- 34 6f 1st
Skiddaw Wolf 13 / 37 (no/85*) Fav --- 37 6f 1st
First Rhapsody 6* / 37 (no / no) --- 37 6f 1st

Shrink has all the ticks in the boxes up to the ---. However, recent runs indicate that Shrink isn't proven over 6f, although breeding indicates she should stay. She is also ˜in foal'.

Conclusion: Shrink would be my selection, but won't have my money on today.

Hi,

I have done a version of this that has done well in the past. Mega crap on the NH though. I used to do the highest prize money race each day. But time gets in the way as always. so have not done it for a while. I have just done the 2.45 pont. African saraha 4* does look a goodie. 5/2 min for me tp play. I will try and do one this evening as well if I get the time.

Interesting thread.

Unplaced. Titanic

I think this one race highlighted two valuable things.

1. The winner would not have been found using the VDW method. Which means that it is worthwhile to learn other approaches to racing, to broaden the number of races you can play in.

2. The aspect of temperament excluded the selection - Shrink - as a bet. Temperament, mentioned by VDW as vital (and as JIB pointed out, a successful trait found in all areas of life), needs to be cultivated. The numbers part of the VDW method added up, but not in the light of 'other considerations'.

Hi Padman - 3rd I see. At least yours placed!

The problem here is she is a she.

How many of the 100 or so VDW examples did he pick a filly or mare?

also How many were sprints?

Hi Imp

Don't know the answer to that, but I've heard that females are less reliable. A bit like my first wife I suppose! Wink And sprints too.

Today's racing doesn't offer a suitable VDW race from my understanding.

Had a quick peek at the 5.00 Brighton, where I think 'Catch the Wind' might be ready. 6/1 E-W perhaps?

4.15 hamilton

viewforth 4*
kings college boy 4*

I will be backing KCB as Viewforth is 7yo. KCB should be fit as it ran 3days ago and the odds offer better value than viewforth. Or dutch both.

You cant go wrong backing 4-6yo male nags that are race fit, in my humble opinion. Leave them fillies alone was a tip my grandad gave me years back and boy has that rule saved me some money.

Cheers,

Paul

Again, no key races today. Wink

The race I tried applying the principles to today was Catt 3.30. A wide open race to my way of thinking - I made a strong case against all of them! But one of them must win it I suppose. Smile If forced to name a name, Dispol Katie has the least against her (HER?!) - best price 13/2; and Serieux - best price 14/1. EW? dutch? EW dutch? No bet?

The latter Smile
