Hi Rab,

I think I've been lucky a couple of times, getting the shout when a photo finish, so more winners than placed as "normal" - but I'm rarely out of the frame.

I ran a thread "A CHASE A DAY" where I just concentrated on handicap chases. The thread ran from 14/11/05 to 19/1/06 and the results at SP were:
--------------------------------------
3rd 5/1
W 11/1
W 10/1
W 4/1
W 15/8
W 7/2
W 4/1 (Got 11/1 EP on this one)
3rd 4/1
3rd 4/1
L 3/1 (Heavy going)
2nd 10/1
L 6/1 (Heavy going - contingency prevented loss)
2nd 8/1

Note from 13 bets, the only 2 out of the frame were on heavy going - a lesson there methinks.

/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/130603269/m/4211069443/p/3

---------------------------------------------

Strangely enough, I'd never tried it on the AW before this thread - rather forced to because of the abandoned meetings and heavy going on the NH. Glad I did - the prices I am getting on the AW are much better - and this has made a huge difference to profit Smile

When the flat season starts and we get good going, I'm hoping to manage 3 to 4 races a day - then things should really take-off.

Without being controversial, it's only been since I cast off the chains of VDW that I have found this level of success - it's such a liberated feeling after all these years Devil1

The Violin

Skidmark (waiting for this one to return to Lingfield at 10f)

And look at the form figs of Newnham 2111

Knew that would happen, not even placed Frown

Whose money was that - it started about 100/30 didn't it?

Coverage on ATR was diabolical - I think I was cheering on the wrong horse altogether!!!!

£100 loss takes Golf Bag total to £4,583.75

Nil desperandum etc! Where did it come from? Perhaps your fame has spread far and wide Big Grin! I was sorely tempted to grab the locked in profits but rode it out, dreaded Saturdays! Let's hope the house won't be filled with "dour" looks after the last race. "It's the way you tell'em...." Roll Eyes

Yes, Kingsley, when I saw the price plummeting - on ATR - I wanted to lay back for a free bet ( I had taken 12.5 on Betfair) - but I "ran" upstairs, pulled my son off the computer, only to my horror found he had "frozen" the screen with one of his online games - all too late Frown

Trojan,

Wolverhampton has been the graveyard of more punters than I can remember, even back in the days when they ran on Turf and used to have NH racing as well.

I'm sure you'll discover that magic touch again when you get back on the better courses.

Yes OT,

It must be more than sheer coincidence that I have had 3 bets at Wolvs on this thread, and all 3 have finished at the back of the field.

My favourite AW is Lingfield by far.

I know some of you are following this thread with your own money - I apologise for today - I just hope you didn't start today, and that you are still in profit overall..I suppose at the prices we are getting such disappointments are inevitable.

I doubt there will be anything tomorrow - I may go to Fontwell if I manage to get a decent nights kip and the weather is fine.

A minor setback.

You'll be easily recognised if you do go to Fontwell - you'll be the one carrying the golf bag!!

Not one for the faint-hearted this one, being a lowly £2,602 handicap with 14 runners (at last count down from 18) on soft going.

I originally picked this one out to back now, then layback in running - but then thought "what the heck - it could well make the frame" Oh!!! Gay abandon!!!!! I'm free of my chains and shackles..... Smile

Trojan,

Brave man with the trainer 0/10 with his hurdlers there and a claimer who is 0/3. Wish you luck with this one, but it's a day off for me.

6 non-runners now, still over 4 hours to the off.

At this rate, it'll turn into a 7 runner race, the price will be 4/1 because of all the deductions, and it'll come 3rd Big Grin
