1st proper example
thanks to kis if this goes to plan i can now paste/copy if like last time i lose everything then im going to stick my head in the oven.

allthough the vast majority of this thread applies to flat a/w and turf for the purpose of this example i am going to use the 3.45 ludlow a 10 runner d h/c chase.

because laying things out in table format is difficult you will have to make do with the way it is.
after the horses name you can see a series of numbers and letters, this is what it means as it appears-
first 3 two digit figures represent the horses last 3 scores in relation to prize value of previously contested races.nwxt we see the last 3 class type followed by the last 3 weights carried.finally the total points value for the horse in question.
i will run through the first one so as everybody is crystal.
mount prague 60 50 40ddd (d class today so no change in points)113/1011/113(last 3 weights and loses 30 points because of weight gained from previous last 3)total points value=120
native speaker 70 30 40 ded 1010/118/12=100
baby john 20 20 30 eee 1011/1012/115=70
island mist 30 30 60 ded 1110/1110/1013+120
storm tiger 120 30 30 dfe 102/12/117=170
dealers choice 50 30 30 dff 104/114/1011=90
granby bell 30 30 100 fed 1012/112/10=150
andys lad 40 100 60 dcd 101/10/106=200
keano 30 30 40 edf 911/104/1013=90
sheperds rest eff 104/109/114=100

as you can see andys lad is the clear form pick but out of all 10 runners only 3 pass the filter these are MOUNT PRAGUE/ISLAND MIST/NATIVE SPEAKER further checks revealed a slight doubt as to webbers current form but not enough to discount alltogther.
these are the only 3 that interest me in this race appearing on the points value table 4/5/6 respectively,i know that they are not in the top third rated but serious doubts concerning the top 3 and for the sake of this example lead me to conclude that they are all definate bets in this race.

at the time of writting this i do not know the current prices but using the racing post tissue this is how my bet would look-

MOUNT PRAGUE @5/1 £90 win
ISLAND MIST @12/1£40win
NATIVE SPEAKER @5/1 £70 win
total £200
at total combined odds any winner will roughly work out at 6/4 with the exception of the last named whose stake was reduced slightly due to the above made point.

i think thats about everything good luck to all.

I am only joking, with you providing all this info and spending all your time edumacating wallies like me,you deserve a bloody medal.
This,as you know will come right, but you could have bet a pound to a pinch of horse shit that the first time you put up a working example it would get done, don't worry about it,it's a sound system.
Thanks again for all your hard work.

Sorry to be a pain mate, but i just cant get my head around some of what your posted, can you help please.

1:- Cant see the reason why you do step 2, if you are only going to select the ones that pass the filters

2:- What is this points value table you mention?

3:- Do you actually run every race through all this criteria, i know three legs asked this question earlier but cant see any answer.
If the answer to these questions are already on the thread them please except my apoligy's, as i have read through the posts but heads about to explode any moment.

q dont worry mate i can see the funny side, laughing along with 111

kis in answer to your questions-
1 we do this for comparisons with the rest of the field true only 3 were ever being considered but i wanted to be sure that any selections were not outclassed and left floundering at the back with a circuit to go.
2 points value is the score for each horse after taking last 3 prize money/class/weight into account.
3 sometimes i will go through the card this way it depends on how many i am looking for.
a good idea is to look for the shortest priced runners on the card and run the filters through them and if they fail you can then look at the other runners in the race for potential selections which can oppose the hot fav.

hope that helps
good luck,max.

thanks for the reply,
Reference my first question and your reply about making sure our selections are not being outclassed, surly they were by:-

storm tiger 120 30 30 dfe 102/12/117=170

granby bell 30 30 100 fed 1012/112/10=150

andys lad 40 100 60 dcd 101/10/106=200

all having higher points value.

finishing up

here is the last two courses that i managed to miss off originally
YARMOUTH
left handed long run in-non h/c back fav, gambled on 2yo win here, placed newmarket form good,if short priced fav then make sure it has a good speed figure
YORK
left handed galloping long run in-c/d winners good especially in h/c,look at form for horses that have been laid out to win,in h/c big priced winners common, placed newmarket form good in non h/c.

finally
when you have your 2/3 selections to dutch then also consider comb f/c and t/c if the prices are good, two recent examples that spring to mind-last monday at stratford through up sulleys hope 12/1,indian venture 16/1 and the a.p fav maid equal, the fav finished nowhere but the others filled the first two places with the f/c paying £200+ for £1.at musselburgh a few days ago four qualifiers in a fourteen runner h/c,they finished first second third and unplaced at prices of 14/1,8/1 and 10/3 the t/c paid big,but i suppose the best example was at cheltenham in the foxhunter's with four qualifiers they finished 1st20/1,2nd8/1,3rd 10/1 nd 5th at something like 33s i cant remember off hand.the point is that these are daily occurances and well worth considering when placing your bets.

yes i take your point but like i said in the example it was just that an example, the ones that i put forward were 4/5/6 on the list and i let it stand because they were filter qualifiers and i wanted to show a race laid out so as everyone was crystal about how to do it in readiness for the start of the flat.
remember as i stated the principles while compatable for n/h are more suitable for the flat, which is the purpose of this thread.

just noticed i posted twice above on course notes the muppet strikes again.
