Max`s draw biases.Another today which is Thirsk high have a definite advantage in sprints on faster ground but low on soft at 6f/7f/8f.Also other part of thread c/d horses good in handicap, non h/c good for reverse book.

Hi ......you asked me to post and share my next bet with you with reasons why...so at the risk of making an absolute pratt of myself here goes...

Harvis ...2-40 Bangor

Dropped in class 2nd in 21k race down to 4.4k
1 serious danger in race ...Starting Again
only seven runners ....poor opposition
Top Rated .....inc prize money won

Not that keen on Joc though.....buut will be happy if priced at something like the 4-6 mark

Anyway good luck everyone......

Regards......

Oh well there you go .........another case proving I should use Max's filters......I gave the joc benefit of doubt when I saw his stats I thought dont bet and then I realised 11 of his total of 12 winners were with the trainer and thought it was worth the risk.....ah well another mistake ....from now on I will have to get a grip....if in doubt leave it out.....sorry chaps.....
Regards.....

Only just getting round to reading your thread - all good useful stuff.
I have been reading the section about evaluating your selections - the bit where you add up values of last 3 races and adjust by a factor (no of runners) according to change in class and weight of last three races etc etc.
Well to help me understand and to do the nath i have programmed a spread sheet and just used the 3:00 at Yarmouth (17/7/02) to test it. It is obvious that the system is extremley heavily weighted to the former three race values which highlights a drop in class. Anyway you may like to know that it has thrown up two clear preferences Tinsel Moon and Dream A Dream.
If you have time I would appreciate it if you (or anybodyelse) could look at this race and see if you agree.
I havn't applied any filters yet as I havn't got reading that part.

Thanks Max for all the info I currently have steam coming out my ears may have to stick my head under a cold shower before I can take in anymore.

Thanks Oldtimer - I'm still trying to establish if I am rating them correctly. What I find surprising is that having rated all the horses the favourites where all poorly rated but the race ran pretty much as the market predicted. The first three were 3rd, 1st, 2nd in the betting However my second rated was a creditable 4th at 16/1. I think i need to look at a lot more races as this example would indicate the market to be a better guide than ratings.
I'm not sure where this is leading me at the moment so perhaps I better come back to it when i've read the rest of Max's words of wisdom. confused
