Seanrua,

From a post by Swish on page 472 of the main VDW thread.

Now amongst the many other things Hawkins says he says the following, which appears to me to contradict what VDW said about seeing how horses finished over the last 2 furlongs.

"An inherent danger to racegoers looking for future winners is the false impression gained when noting fast-finishing placed horses. Often they are running through beaten rivals, benefited from educational tactics or were only put into the race after the principals had flown. Many horses look impressive in those circumstances, then are found lacking on their next outing when asked to get into the thick of things"

Seanrua,

I am going to start making a list of horses described by RP commentary as "finishing with a wet sail", "has sprouted wings and flown through the field" etc - certainly the winners, but possibly very close placed horses. Despite my previous post!

I will miss some as the PC at work has Win 95 and doesn't support the javascript for the RP - well unless I can pitch the twonk off the XP machine.

One such horse finishing with "a wet sail" - Spanish Don. Trainers/or RP summation several months ago "this is a horse for the Cambridgeshire" - was I on it, no. Roll Eyes

Maybe Lee would like to respond as to whether this would be a worthwhile list to make, it being in his realm of expertise.

Investor,

I think it is I should that apologise. Whilst I think my basic reading of what was posted is probably correct - I should never have bitten, despite how I feel about being called a liar. I broke one of my own rules, if it can't harm or take my family from me and can't kill me, ignore it - I didn't but should have done.

Having read what I posted it would appear to be a threat, it was never meant to be - it was merely a fact.

Bad day at the office?-Good day for CVDW'ers. The first TRUE CVDW selection has been posted.

The evidence so far displayed on this thread, is generally showing up the the lack of temperament of individuals on this forum, not the inherant ability/inability to pick winners.

Whilst i agree that comply or die would still have won that race if one of it's legs had fell off.I think even those who have no idea in vdw whatsoever could have seen the merits in this horse.I saw it straight away,But i'm trying to stear clear of the odds on jobbies. It's just a bit of fun for me and keeps me sharp.I would never lay myself bare with vdw methodology on this thread,But i have entered into the spirit of it because it makes you look that little bit harder. Smile

I may well have missed a contributor or a selection or miscalculated so please check your own (and anybody you're suspicious of) and dont be shy about lodging a complaint. Walter: I already vetoed Betfair prices with Nessie so you'll have to be happy with the Tote return, I'll edit it in after I've been to the Post.

Morning all.

Can Beef or Salmon give nearly 2 stone to the next in the handicap.

Can Indesatchel take the step up from 6f to 1 mile.

Can Spanish John take care of Hasanapour with the revised weights.

Can The Screamer take care of laurel view.

Questions that need to be answered. If you can't find the answers then there is only one alternative..Go to the pub.. Big Grin

Nessie
Well for a start mate it was a maiden. As far as class goes then yes the horse had every right to be in the winners enclosure. But the method revolves round good class takes and h/cap races. If you want to play odds on shots in these type of races it's up to you.But eventually you'll get your fingers burnt. Thank you for your posts, Nofinepix.

If you want to post your findings someplace else, please let me know where, as I'm very interested.

Just worried about clogging up Epi's competition thread, that's all.

While I'm here though, Swish's point made me ponder: what about " ran on well, given too much to do"?

This could be a sign of preparing for the " big one", perhaps?

Btw, the combination of picking a winner, playing in the golf comp and your concilatory posts re the threat of a nose job, have really perked up Investor!
Fair play to him! I wonder what marvellous wonders he's going to see tonight? I really look forward to the Saturday night posts, when everybody starts bashing the buttons after being down the pub.

Oh dear, it looks as though I should be down the pub.

Limerick 3.15 Laurel View
Newcastle 5.15 Newcorp Lad

Regarding Beef Or Salmon, not I think on it's seasonal debut and Colca Canyon is better value.

Indesatchel is on my shortlist and I think yes it will.
