Paul,

Fulham has indeed had a communication from the person still living at the address from which the VDW letters were sent to the SCHB and that would seem to be the gist of the matter.

Seasons greetings to you too, and may your horses run straight and true according to the VDW principles.

JohnD,

You have repeatedly referred to Hensman as a "he."

If you click on Hensman's public profile you should see that gender is described as female.

Both of you seem apparently well versed in the art of form study, yet one of you seems unable to tell the difference between a colt and a filly.

It is a little sad that a thread like this has many more responses than one involved with actually selecting some pre race picks and then analysing said races afterwards.

the obsession with "VDW" and "his" racing methods seems to override any interest in actually making a profit from the game.

is it just an obsession with these articles and now this apparent locating of the ficticious writer ...and absolutley nothing to do with racing whatsover that makes people post?

for instance..Hensman..you seem to have no interest in horse racing at all..but will post until kingdom come on threads like this...I don't recall you ever giving a pre race selection...which seems to back up the obsession with VDW but not the subject...which is horse racing...and what happens mainly in the future.

This seems to me to be nostalgia gone silly

"If there is to be no healing, then in all probability this VDW forum will go back to the empty place it has been for the past few months"

Believe me, that is the last thing I want.
VDW, whoever he is/was, has been good to me, as has this forum in helping me to think more clearly about his work.
That leaves me with a debt of gratitude, which I have tried in some small measure to repay by sharing some of that knowledge with others, hence my continuing to post during the barren times when there was nothing to personally gain.
This forum could thrive as it has in the past, particularly as it now seems to be generally accepted that VDW isn't a doctorate thesis but, like all good forums, it can only survive on the sharing of information.
I am perfectly willing to continue to share much of my knowledge on the place where I gleaned a lot of it from, which is why I get so excercised by others who won't. Selfishness is not a pleasant trait, nor does it help this forum, whatever form it takes. Transparency however is, and I have offered to put up selections on this board a number of times, but have yet to see much reciprocation.
Frankly, in view of the latest saga, I am a little tired of it all, and unless there is more commitment from the 'pikers', there are more honest and open forums for discussing racing and I shall transfer my endeavours to there.

Thank you for your reply.
May i ask does Fulham state how many letters he sent before he got a response, and if possible what the tone of the letter consisted of i.e. was it straight to the point or just a polite letter stating he vdw wanted no further involvement.
Thank you
Paul

Tuppenycat: Thanks, hilarious stuff.
Fulham: What was it, five years ago that it was pointed out to you that VDW didn't even have the nous to choose a genuine Dutch name. You sure took your time working that one out.

Because he fabricated an entire Dutch biography.

Why would he fabricate any thing though? What does he gain by doing this?If he is a liar how does this reflect on the methods? How much can be believed about what he wrote.I havn't seen the evidence so I'm reserving judgement until the book comes out. Assuming the evidence is going to be in the book.

Your question seems rather naive in light of behaviour, by Investor, Barney, etc, seen on this very board.

Lying as a form of self aggrandisement.

These days the Gummy forum is fairly amiable - the worst offender there in the old days is nowadays presumably perpetually drunk in the Japanese gutter from which he sometimes surfaced to spit his poison.

Has anyone bothered to rate a race today using the VDW method?
Didn't think,so because everyone is more bothered about who he is etc.
I think I will start a Jack The Ripper method then we can throw the use of the method away and then spend 7 years trying to find out who he was.
Mind you I would like to use his method on here and get a knife and split the gizzards of some members.
