"Black Jack Ketchum" what a brilliant name almost as good as "Dangerousdanmagru" lol.
TC i fancied that Intersky to run well today take a gander at the race conditions compared with Royal Shakespeare for instance from the last two runs the prices are interesting too. You were getting 5/2 the place last night although the fav looked a genuine one. |

LarryD: The value of Johnd's post is that it provides further confirmation that the VDW concept of race selection is another of the ways in which VDW works against the selector.

JD,
I hear what your sayin but on occassion would it hurt too much just to name a horse that the trainer was telling you was out to win?. |

Every bloody VDW horse that I have put up this week, has been an odds on fav - so where does that get us ??

Maybe VDW meant to write "once you find the key, you'll have the same selections as everybody else".

Walter Probably not, but today's would have been a little too obvious for comfort, imo. It didn't win, but neither did it do anything to change the views I held before the race, or my view of the method as a whole. Nor should it, as it is based on an enduring logic that will outlive all of its detractors. ![]() |

I fear there might be a misunderstanding. My last post read: 'arsehole
![]() However I was refering to Fondmort having just been brought down when moving up to the lead like a shark homing in on a bit of bleeding meat. I wasnt refering to any other member. ![]() |

TC,
Black Jack was a qualifier for my recent demonstrations of class superiority however as the price was never going to be near evs I didnt bother mentioning it, because as you note most VDW horses are odds-on and at odds-on the 80% SR becomes a must at level stakes. I notice you put value on a trainers recent record, but this subject has been disturbing me slightly as whilst it is easy enough to confirm that a trainer is in form by the seeing a number of wins in the last fortnight, it does not follow that the lack of a win is a sign that there is something wrong. Firstly if the majority of the horses were largish odds then they were not expected and secondly 3 or 4 favs or 2nd favs that dont win is hardly conclusive given the vagaries of our racing. And it is important to see if in our opinion the trainer has 'placed' a horse to win before dismissing the stable as out of form. If the trainer wants to catch the bookies on the hop he will deploy his horses like Von Manstein did his armour for Operation Barbarossa! And before the world wakes up he's halfway to Moscow! |

For the record vdw said that Soba was one to leave alone the next season & that was a horse that won for fun.

Q1 Did anyone think harchibald looked right for the winner of its race today?
Q2 Does it looks right to win anymore? Q3 Would i be mad to oppose it come March with brave inca? Q4 Can brave inca improve? Q5 Does it need to improve as come March we have a horse with guts |

Try this Rab - From another Forum.
- It's one thing to do it against last yearsTriumph runners and washed up horses and another to do it against the King of the hill. With Akilak gone it was a poor renewal. Look at Harchibalds last run at Punchestown although you could argue he was unlucky ,Carberry still had plenty of time to win that race and he was travelling supremely well again at the time.Again prior to that at Tipperary he was prominent 2 out and downed tools.Punchestown again before that when beaten by Brave inca, same story when looking all over the winner. As for the fighting 5th the only truly decent runner in that was Inglis Drever over a trip too short. It's about time people give Hardy Eustace credit for the great champion that he is.Three runs at the festival and three victories.Istabraq was feted as one of the great champions of all time after his second win,but this horse seems to get no plaudits at all. Hachibald did quicken slightly in the last 100yards IMO at Cheltenham, it's just that H.E pulled out that little bit more as well.So many people concentrate on the ride by Carberry that H.E's achievements are forgotten. They said there would never be another Istabraq, but in the space of three years H.E could have equalled his achievement and against better horses IMO. It's all about opinions mate and In Hardy Eustace I've got smokin Joe Frazier in my corner why you've got Joe Bugner.I'm more worried as a H.E fan about Arcalis than Harchibald. Personally I think the horse is a dodgepot at he highest level and looks like he is quickenming against vastly inferior rivals-when he is asked to do it against class horses he always lets you down. - ![]() |
