Hi TC

I am a convert on the basis that I wasn't able to make anything else pay! The Flash-in-the-Pan system selections were based on ideas gleaned from the VDW books. They may not produce 16/1 winners. And there may not be bets for days (or even weeks sometimes). But if I stick to them, then over any period of time, the system does make a consistent profit without long losing runs to contend with.

What I have never been able to do is to spend the time to use the method properly (well - properly as I understand it anyway).

Whatever else I have tried - other systems; tipsters, best bets based on form, etc... have all lost over the long haul.

Having said that, I'd have to say that I am sure there are other successful ways of betting on the horses. Some of the contributors to this forum and others are testament to that. But it is having the time to investigate other things. Time is something I just don't have right now. So I had to put it all on the shelf for the time being. I doubt horse-racing is going anywhere, so I have to be content that at some future time, I'll pick it up and play with it then.

Prediction is hard. Especially the future.

Nice to hear from you, BC!

I take your points on board, in general.
it is precisely because form alone is not enough .that I now place so much store in dutching. This is also a great time-saver.

Take today, for instance. By all my reckoning, Notable Guest should have been the bet of the day.
It was useless!
Because I dutched, however, ( just an experiment using small fields), I had Compton Bolter covered at 25/1. No skill or knowledge on my part.

Didn't work in the second small field race, though. The 7/4 fav won that, but there was no need to get involved.
Stop at a winner is another good idea. Why take risks? That's what I do, and it ain't no good!

In the meantime , no doubt - "Investor" will continue to advise us on the merits of backing horses with "Consistant" form figures.

Did - "Trainers Intentions" - not play a part in the result of todays "Silver Cup" ?

JIB and I have been shouting for weeks , that the winner has been "concealed" within apparently poor form figs !

Even if "Nichols" fails to win the "Gold Cup" tomorrow, we will still be in profit.

Ye of little faith! Smile
A while ago, I wrote to you about his trainer and how he had placed a particular horse, whose name escapes me at the moment.
He has repeated the format many times since, and does so again today, but only those true to the faith would be aware of it. Cool

Nice to hear from you, Ectoo!

I always read your posts on TRF, but as I can't manage to join that set-up for love nor money, i haven't been able to agree or disagree with you!

You can see that things are much the same as ever here: some terrible selections, but some right good laughs!

Post your selections on Epi's thread.

I don't however recolect seeing a Email/message from you on the subject ??

If you have views, then I would be interested in them.

TC

this is one of my fav Investor/Pro postings from the other forum

Webmaster
you have got to sort something out with these lurkers. They are registering but not posting. There must now be many of them who are getting a free ride without giving anything in return,I feel it has to stop my friend otherwise the posts are going to dry up and subsequently you will lose a good forum.I am now getting concerned with the numbers not posting.Would it be possible to give some kind of pin number,Or make some kind of ruling that they must post within a certain time and show some kind of interest or knowledge of the methods.I don't want to start deleting posts but if something isn't done that will be my only option.

that is just pure class..better than the telly Clown

Bit of a "time" collision there in the posts, - dunno who saw what first Smile

Don't realy want to get involved in yet another investor/pro confrontation !

he is welcome to keep posting where he is - but I shall stop here and continue to promote "MY" version of VDW.

No selection attempt from me today as I class Hamilton as a dodgy track were I do badly.

However, the one race I looked at was the 445.
Here I was thinking about Sumora and Mecca's Mate, when for some reason ( perhaps bc there were a lot of old mares in the race), i thought i'd give it the rough vdw spin.

Well, you're not going to believe this, but, know what, the nag it threw up was the 10/1 winner, Slip Dance!
Come in Pro:
now the race is well and truly over, maybe you can explain how this was a dead cert from the point of view of those who read and understand the old booklets?
Well done, vdw, anyway. Two fingers in the eyes and a thumb in the nose of sean rua!
