Bit better this week.

Pity I didn't do my fancy as well; it was the winner - even though i got the name wrong yesterday.

Insian summertime, indeed! What a pillock i am!
Sleeping Indian - good winner, but no way a VDW candidate.

Thursday, 17 Aug.

Here's some hateful aftertiming;

My rough calcs "VDW" like method has produced some good-priced winners at york this week, inc Sergeant Cecil and Electolucionist ( sorry, can't be fkd to look up the spelling).

Anyway, surelt today'a attempt has NO chance;

My effot without the correct VDW filters;
Fayr jag
Bahamian Pirate
Chineur

My effort with the filters:
Chineur
La cucuracha
Avonbridge

( might as well just look at the betting forecast!)

My new experiment:
Balmont
The tatling
Moss Vale

( didn't look at any form, ratings or bollox - but picked straight off a certain page in the RP)

More tomorrow if there is anything significant - provided I can get in here.

Filtered version produced the winner at a decent price. terrible runs from the other two, which included the fav.
Interestingly, this flop, Chinneur, is mentioned in the RP today. it seems that there was a lot of money in the " back box" next to his name on betfair.
This is a surefire sign that the yoke is gonna lose! I suppose all you young dudes knew that, but I didn't.

Bollox method gave the 2nd that just failed to win. This method is simple:
Just back the 5th, 6th,and 7th in the live betting!

Saturday once again!

Despite the fact that more members are more interested in the shennigins on the forum than in this load of whatever, here we go again with a rough selection attempt or two:

220 sandown
Close to you
Rising Cross

255 sandown
Wiggy smith
Blue Torpedo

310 Chester
Paper talk
Ettrick water
Spirit of France

Well, none of these critters would be a pure VDW selection, imo.

It's interesting that Paper Talk ( tops on my selection method) is given as a no-hoper lay by one ratings provider!

Hmmmm.
330 sandown
Green manalishi
Out after dark

Have you made - "progress" - TC? Big Grin

Superb selections!

Prediction is hard. Especially the future.

regents secret was unlucky - hampered at the start.

Bit of VDW bit of Massey , and I suppose a bit of "progress" Smile

mainly helped by the lack of barracking from the sidelines - which thankfully seems to have dissapeared.

all we need now, - a few more selections - before the "off" !

Sorry for not replying, Epi!

i've been on the move again and didn't get internet access till too late.

Never tried the rough method on jumpers, so probably would not have been useful info.

Tuppemycat seems to have got things about right, btw.

This thread is in danger of becoming known as VDW Discontinued.

I will try with Beverley 3.55,a class 57 handicap,a trappy handicap nonetheless.

I think Nobelix,is the most likely winner here,a typical improving 3 yr old from Fanshawe, who has it's ground and ideal distance.

Is it VDW?probably find out after the race.

Midweek special today, with a couple of rough VDW selection attempts.

First, some positive news that a mate of mine gleaned off a forum:

" 80% of winners come from selections named in the RP Selection Box."

Sounds like a damn good filter, so I'll use it at once.
In the chosen race, 315 York ( £30K), the selected contenders are

Maraahel
Mullins Bay
Andean.

It's only a 6 runner race, so we should immediately smell a rat; I've learnt from bitter experience that the unconsidered, bigger -priced " no-hopers" often do well in these shockers. Nevertheless, we'll stick to the gameplan.

Looking only at the three candidates mentioned, my rough grading gave me

Mullins Bay, 149 + good last 3 form figs
Maraahel, 60 + gl3ff
Andean, 12 + gl3ff

None have scored at the distance.

Cross-checking against other ratings gave a depressingly confusing picture, which, I guess, should lead me to conclude, in time-honoured vdw fashion, " no bet, bc of conflict."

Bollocks to that, I'll say
MULLINS BAY to place.

In the next, the 345, York, I went all to cock; some rejects scored top-rating on various message boards.
So, going against my " emotional attachment" bets ( Political intrigue and Front Stage, ew)
I make it
Sunday Symphony and Bridge Loan to place.

Perhaps it all hinges on Viz, in the 240 ( note jockey and trainer).

ps. if Arena Les don't employ stall-handlers in the winter, who the fk will?

Yes, handlers are underpaid ( inc by racetech) but who wants to put a hand in a pocket to pay them? No bastrd, that's who, least of all those pissed up journalists on the RP.

Like the mobile phone shit before, it's mostly about fixing races - but, we're not supposed to say things like that, are we?

Enjoy!

Mullins Bay wins with a dirty enough ride from my hero, KF.

Frankie doesn't bother riding out for 2nd place in the next, but Sunday Symphony gets the place money all the same.

Reasonable outcome.
