Pipedreamer, there's one on eBay with a couple of days to go.
You might need to email the seller before hand for postage outside the UK. cheers IMP |

hi pipedreamer
i`ve got a feeling i posted the 1980/81 book to bensam a few years back. the only one ive got closest to that year is the 1981/82 N/Hunt "haig" or 3 NH formbooks in the earlier years 1969/70 1970/72 & 1972/73 sorry about that i did think i had it... Tony L. |

Pipedreamer,
You are one of the few I have mentioned as possibly knowing what they are doing. However the RIP refers to no real selections for nearly 2 weeks despite the quality of racing - I don't expect a tipping service, but nobody VDW inclined had a bet at Goodwood according to the thread. I made a paltry 25 points on jockey trainer stats (Betfair prices) - it took far less time and gave far more profit than VDW, and didn't involve form or anything else for that matter. |

Glad you used the word possibly,in your last post. The fact that I am looking for a form book, suggests that I haven't solved the puzzle, and it's true I haven't. To be honest, horses I back, are generally based on my interpretation of VDW,but I have no way of knowing, whether they would be deemed VDW type selections. In reference to Goodwood, the ground conditions kind of spoiled it.I spent much of the week in Galway, where fast ground meant that the formbook stood up. I wagered in five races during the Galway festival, whether they were VDW or not I am not suitably qualified to say. |

The RIP could apply to the whole forum, not just the VDW thread! No discussion of Goodwood, the same at York, Royal Ascot, Cheltenham, and God knows how many other top class festivals before. What used to be a truly busy and interesting horse racing medium is now reduced to the odd tired system, a few self-congratulatory posts, sniping at Gummy, and the haranguing of potential new members to either post or p*ss off. Little there to attract new blood, and now many of the old faithfuls have apparently taken their leave, scant reason for them to hang about, if you look around. Yet other forums thrive. TRF has a membership 10x that of this site, and Betfair much larger, Why? Because both have a policy of open viewing, and freedom of choice of whether to contribute, or not, once a member. Whether you agree with that or not, that is the only discernible difference between them and us, and the only real difference between what this MB is now compared to how it used to be. Personally I will soldier on in the hope that the situation improves, partly because of loyalty to Gummy, and partly because I have no interest in discussing VDW elsewhere, but there is little point in continuing to post into a vacuum, which I have done on many occasions in the past. You are a Forum Manager, the ball is in your court! |

Well. here's my attempt at a VDW selection for today, Tuesday, Aug 2.
415 Brighton CHARLIE KENNET TOPKAT. My own feeling is that these are "outsiders" worth betting small to place. The race is probably not an ideal one for VDW. imo. |

Seanrua: I've done Otago in that one, nothing to do with VDW.

I was in Roscommon last night, not a sign of a VDW bet anywhere.I am beginning to think that God was a bookie.

PD -
That comment also applies to the 4.15 at Brighton - ![]() Ye Gods - 100/1 was that a VDW selection, or was it not. ![]() tc |

Does anyone have any thoughts as to why vdw said that certain trends were apparent in high class races.

Obviously, as one who hasn't studied VDW deeply, I don't know why, Walter, but my feeling is that there are certain stables for certain races ( ie . targets).
Rarely does the prize go to one not in the "circle". As a consequence, prize money won is up. "Regular" form lines may not always apply, but the "shock" winner usually belongs to the " chosen few". JIB would be the man to put us wise about this sort of thing. Btw, Topkat would have been the winner the other day but for a ridiculous bit of riding, imo. |

If I read you right, then I would suggest that the Dandy Nichols horses at Goodwood recently are an excelent example of a stable targeting certain races. Of course with Dandy, you still cant be certain as to which of his multiple entries is going to be the winner ! - but a bit of astute "Dutching" will get you closer. tho, I think that it was JIB who suggested that, in Dandys case, not even the jockies know the answer to the riddle. ![]() |
