Statistics in the Zetland could be unsafe as there are horses specifically laid out for the race with hidden profiles and undeclared form and sometimes not all is what you see. One of the clearer trends in this race is to avoid horses that ran within 15 days. There is a clear bias against recent returners . They have a poor 1-52 record . The 1 from 52 record is particularly poor when you consider that 20 of them started no bigger than 10/1 , 8 of them stated no bigger than 6/1, and that also included 4 beaten favourites and 6 beaten second favs. The only winner that managed it was racing 14 days ago so he was on the edge of the stat anyway. This undermines the likes of POLYGONAL 10/1 , JAMES CAIRD 10/1 and GO TECH 14/1 . Another angle that I quite liked was the statistic that showed how horses that had ran endless times before had a poor record and its probably no coincidence that 11 of the 13 winners had all ran less than 20 previous races. You do want a horse that hasnt been thrashed and had all the improvement knocked out of it. Horses that looks suspicioulsy over-raced include Go Tech, Crow Wood , Stretton and several others. If you take the 11 horses that are 16/1 or shorter in the betting , and you apply the statistics you come out with 5 strong positive runners and 6 negatives. If you want to procede with a bet in the race then you are braver than me.
