FJ,

Yeah, that's kinda the impression I got (have read all of the part 2 thread, one or two WELL out of order moments). Dogma's a terrible thing innit?

To be fair the whole "I know and I'm not telling" thing tends to hang round VDW like a bad smell. I think that his writing style and the hype haven't helped much but if you don't read between the lines one recurrent theme is "Clear and Logical". Strange.........

Cheers

Carlos

Double Vodka won well today looked to have a lot going for it,compared to its last run, where the odds were against it,would be interested in any views on it.

I am away to Majorca next week for a couple of weeks,so will miss the Derby etc.My thoughts are that Motivator is the one,and Oratario is a lay, can't stay the distance.Must say I am finding the even money for a place about Motivator hard to resist.

Pipedreamer,

I can see where you're coming from, cut in ground, drop in class / wt and that bit further than the mile run at so far this season. Given his running style and the race value I can't say 7/2 would tempt me to bet.

Have a good holiday

Carlos

Boogie Street looks like it will want the run.

Corridor Creeper to some will be the consistant horse to me it will have peaked lto.

If Paradise has the form and a recent run.

Jimmy Ryan looks like he will need the run especially with an out of form trainer.

Jonny Ebeneezer looks well out of form.

Talbot Avenue has a v poor SR for a classy event like this.

Indian Maiden has won only once at this dist against distinctly inferior opposition though it was only a month ago. The trainer has no tradition here.

One Putra besides the obvious lack of form (and no dist win) no 3yos in all age races before July.

With 3 places guaranteed on BF, If Paradise @ 7/4 the place looks good value.

3.15 Redcar

Blue Spinnaker is unquestionably the class horse in the race, and with everything else in his favour, should win this.
Have a good day1

May 30.

250 Sandown

Royal Rebel 53 g,d
Darasim 81 g,d
Duke of Venice 50 g,d,c.
Defining 30 g.d.
Lost Soldier Three 36 d.

Feeling that some of this short-list are too old or preparing for other races, I go fo trainers and jockeys that I like. so

DUKE OF VENICE EW
LOST SOLDIER THREE EW

Best advice? Find an easier race for punting.

3:15 Redcar

This seems a really competetive race to me. Blue Spinnaker does have a lot going for it numerically and is last years winner. My gut feeling is that he's carrying a lot of weight for a fast run handicap and will be vunerable to one of the less exposed horses that have been aimed at this. Blue Monday, Another Bottle and James Caird have all got plenty going for them and Go Tech showed over a mile last time he may well be ready.

If I had to stick my neck out I'd go for AB or GT with preference for the former. Think BS will be likely aimed at one or two big handicaps over 7f - 1m. Won't be betting in this though.

Good Luck,

Carlos

Although big weights do well in the Zetland, horses above 5yo do poorly so I would be wary of backing Blue Spinaker.

BLUE MONDAY looks laid out for this, Charlton sends very few here but does well, Drowne also does well. Looks the winner to me.

uuh ooh..here you go then TC.

It's quite clear that Blue Monday was a VDW selection, it had exactly the same profile as a horse called SCRATCH ME KNACKS that won at Ripon in September 1972. I knew if I waited long enough one would come along again, there was no way I was going to tell you all before the race though.

Gun Fight2

Seriously though, well done JohnD for putting up a selection Thumb

Mathematician Today - re Redcar 3-15

Aftertimed - but it would be unfair to post his thoughts beforehand.

quote:
Redcar 3.15 - 11/2 Blue Monday, Blue Spinnaker, 8/1 Another Bottle, 9/1 Divine Gift, 10/1 Crow Wood, James Caird, Polygonal, 14/1 Go Tech, Magic Sting, 16/1 Stretton, Thyolo, 20/1 Waverley, 25/1 Sky Quest, Vicious Warrior, 28/1 Realism, 33/1 Silvaline, 80/1 United Nations,

Statistics in the Zetland could be unsafe as there are horses specifically laid out for the race with hidden profiles and undeclared form and sometimes not all is what you see. One of the clearer trends in this race is to avoid horses that ran within 15 days. There is a clear bias against recent returners . They have a poor 1-52 record . The 1 from 52 record is particularly poor when you consider that 20 of them started no bigger than 10/1 , 8 of them stated no bigger than 6/1, and that also included 4 beaten favourites and 6 beaten second favs. The only winner that managed it was racing 14 days ago so he was on the edge of the stat anyway. This undermines the likes of POLYGONAL 10/1 , JAMES CAIRD 10/1 and GO TECH 14/1 . Another angle that I quite liked was the statistic that showed how horses that had ran endless times before had a poor record and its probably no coincidence that 11 of the 13 winners had all ran less than 20 previous races. You do want a horse that hasnt been thrashed and had all the improvement knocked out of it. Horses that looks suspicioulsy over-raced include Go Tech, Crow Wood , Stretton and several others. If you take the 11 horses that are 16/1 or shorter in the betting , and you apply the statistics you come out with 5 strong positive runners and 6 negatives. If you want to procede with a bet in the race then you are braver than me.

Zetland horses with the right profile - Blue Monday 11/2 - Another Bottle 8/1 - Divine Gift 9/1 - Magic Sting 14/1 - Thyolo 16/1
Zetland horses with the wrong profile -Blue Spinnaker 11/2 - Crow Wood 10/1 - James Caird 10/1- Polygonal 10/1- Go Tech 14/1-Stretton 16/1

There you go Wink
