Hi Seanrua

I've been in the USA. My first visit. Fantastic place - I shall return.

Even before I went I had deliberately not been posting much - here or elsewhere. Work is keeping me away from the gg's at the moment. I shall return in full force at some point no doubt!

In the meantime, good luck to you and everyone here on Gummy's.

Certainly would have been, Boozer.

Here's my saturday attempt at VDW type selection.
Quite frankly, everything failed to reach the standard needed for a proper bet, but this is what I got after a lot of juggling and jiggery -pokery:

330 Haydock.

REAL QUALITY
Notability
Profit Reality

All EW ( 4 places).

A poor effort. Just a second.

The winner is trained by my favourite trainer, Stoute. This one didn't feature in my calcs.

surprised how you ruled out Home Affairs.Real Quality was a lay,if you look again.

Virginia Waters looks VDW to me today, everything lines up for a good pay out,but what do I know.

In respect of Lee,I must say that he is the only person that I have seen to put up a sequence of winners in excess of 80%,at good prices, pre race.

in the absence of VDW selections here, this is Mr Hedgehogs input from the other board...thanks to Mr Hedgehog

This way we can keep seeing actual selections made before the off and discuss them
================================================
Today I looked at the 2.50 Brighton.

I have 2 form horses, in C/F order, namely Phluke and Dvinsky.

P - Consistent at Lingfield AW when winning then consistent at Epsom behind Veneer and Bailieborough. Finally consistent again at Lingfield AW behind Littleton Zephir. Is par on class of opposition. Suited by distance, going and weight. As at 12.32pm is 8.2 on betfair.

D - Consistent at Lingfield AW behind All Quiet then progressive at Windsor behind General Feeling and Golden Dixie. Finally a consistent win at Chepstow. Is par on class of opposition. Suited by distance, going and weight. Is 6.2 on betfair.

I think a book of these should do which will yield just over 5-2 which I think is good.

All the best

Interesting, Pipedreamer.

From my scribbled notes, I see that in a place I HAVE used the betting forecast. The list was so:

Notability 23d
Home Affairs 5
Enforcer 47g
Pivotal Flame 32
Wedding Party 39

The top three were good, weren't they?

You may see from my figures where I went wrong. The number is my working out of win prize money over wins. G means going ( a positive).

That's where I got Notability from, and why I rejected Home affairs!

I had Real Quality as a very high scorer on Speed.

The Betting Forecast was much more accurate than my effort on this occasion.

Hmmm, I seem to have done better at Brighton than Mr Hedgehog.

No VDW today, but somehow I've managed 3 winners and 5 seconds there.

A bit better than yesterday, though two of those seconds i wanted to be first!

As for Virginia, I didn't see that race.
Maybe it was a case of, " we squeezed ye out in the second,MJ, so I'll stay right out of your way on the fav this race."

Virginia Waters was undone by the ground,it made a hell of a lot of rain and the going was actually yielding which would not have helped her, having said that she may not have won anyway but it is difficult to quicken on that ground from so far back.

I thought Ace marked his card today, running well against Group 1 horses not that he will ever beat them ones, but in a group 2 without a penalty and he must have a chance of winning.

Grey Swallow also looks to have a good season ahead of him,as no doubt Azzamour who ran well.

Yes, PD, I think all the ones you mentioned have great potential.

I wasn't impressed with that Bago, but as you said, ground conditions can make a lot of difference.

Some of the winners in France seemed to be jet-propelled!

Not VDW, but this does involve a dude by the name of Investor. Perhaps there are several different Investors, but, whatever, a mate of mine tells me that one such has just been kicked off the A Massey forum, where he caused fkn mayhem with what were described as - among other things - " ridiculous and disruptive, abusive" posts.

From what I can gather, the subject was soccer and some kind of offer of a tipping service.

Could this be the same Karen Stubbs/Investor of this thread?

There are only 2 forums to which i contribute. This one and the other vdw forum. So you can rest assured that this other investor is not me.

Cheers, Investor.

The " bad boy" Investor could be the same one who caused trouble on Pittsburgh Phil's forum some time ago.

I think he spouted a lot about soccer.

Tuesday, 24 May.

310 Ripon.

" The race of the Day" but not quite a £10K.

However, here we go:

Atlantic Viking, way the best on past form, but not in top 6 betting: 38 cd.

Am Brose, my highest scoring that's in the betting and has won this year or last year: 15g

PRESTO SHINKO, my selection 12 gd, reasonable speed and form; in the betting vying for favouritism.
This is an EW bet of mine in any case, but don't forget to look at Dunnett's Mr Malarkey, 14d.

I suspect AV is there to A/ get him fit for Epsom, and B/ possibly to compress the weights fot the other Niholl's runners, possibly Danzig River?

Well, Presto was crap, but luckily I did Am Brose to place. Nearly won, in fact! 33/1.

I noticed a message for him on another board.

Jury's still out; he was a high scorer on my ratings.

Puzzling, but maybe the rain changes things?

Greetings all,

New member here. I got round to an introductory post and have spent the rest of the time trying to "catch up" with the VDW thread as it's my area of interest. Reading the past history concerned me, thought it might be like parachuting into a war zone but peace seems to have broken out.

In the end I didn't read all of the archived thread, will do but wading through the abuse and name calling at times gets a little wearing.

Quick punter CV. Cautious (like so many VDWers), can't say I'm holding any secrets (Keys etc.) but I've been a profitable punter for a few years now but still have a day job. I'm happy to post and discuss selections before racing, just don't expect me to post them every day (or even every week, I really am cautious). I won't be quoting "hidden factors". I basically find VDW a useful toolkit and have based my approach to betting around it.

I look forward to getting involved but won't be getting sucked into name calling/bickering (my kids provide more than enough of that).

Regards

Carlos

We used to get a lot of 'bad posts' on this thread members taking things too far and upsetting others. Now there are Forum Managers and Gummy has got rid of one or two trouble makers things have improved.
