Cheltenham looms large, and not a post on the subject thus far????
In the hope of generating some discussion, here are my thoughts on the Champion Hurdle, (From my VDW perspective ![]() The first 5/6 in the betting are: BACK IN FRONT HARDY EUSTACE HARCHIBALD BRAVE INCA MAC'S JOY ESSEX For ease of posting, I shall refer to each one by their initials only. BIF Amongst the 3 most consistent, and HE apart, the class horse. 2 c/d wins; a gd1 novice & a gd2 conditions race. Still improving, in good form, and sure to be thereabouts at the death. HE Not in 3 most cons, but unquestionably the class horse in the race with 2 Festival gd1 wins, including his dismissal of a top of his game Rooster Booster last year. His recent form would be questioned by the traditionalists, but my view differs somewhat from theirs. H In the 3 most cons, has carried all before him this season, but, recent stable reports aside, IMO still has it to prove, both on class and capability. BI Not in 3 most cons, despite his gd1 c/d win,has yet to show the class to win this. Improving, and in good form, but probably not good enough. MJ Not in 3 most cons, improving, but similar comments apply as to BI above. E In 3 most cons, improving, and obviously better than a handicapper on the form of his last 2 runs. Has a lot still to find on current evidence, but may sneak a place. In my view, HE is the clear class/form horse, and at this stage rates the banker of the meeting. BIF would have to be an exceptional horse to beat him, and will probably chase him home. |

Maybe you would like to justify that last statement, or maybe you're afraid to in case you make a complete pillock of yourself. Or are you just another windbag? |

Thursday.
205 Carlisle, Rowan Castle 1pt EW. My results clearly show the danger of bad temperament. I "bet" every day on here, and look how many points I've used up already! Selectivity and discipline seem to be the key. A lesson? |

I would be going with the last 3 you named and might end up going with Brave inca who has not had conditions to suit but still run very well |

If I interpret your post correctly, (You're not Barney in another guise, are you? Why all this mystique bo**ocks?),then you think that consistency figures are all that matters? We will see! |

I will post this up as I will be off to Cheltenham within the next few days, probably Monday evening.
My VDW style nap of the meeting is Brewster in the 3 mile Novice Hurdle,I think he possesses everything from a VDW perspective. Good luck to all at Cheltenham. |

Question,
Why have the Anti-vdw zealots, not taken this splendid opportunity to turn this thread into into the FANTASTIC advertisement for Gummy Racing which THEY always claimed would be the result of VDWers leaving on masse so proper discussion could take place. Answer, A bunch of wankers. Ps. Gummy I feel so sorry for you for what they have done to You AND your forum. |

Nice to hear from you, Pipedreamer!
I've noted your selection. Enjoy and prosper at Cheltenham! |

Nobody asked anyone to leave, just to tell the truth; something you obviously have great difficulty with given the totally spurious statements made above. As with others, you pile abuse on this thread, and will no doubt turn up elsewhere, claiming refuge from the same. Dream on! |

Hi Pipedreamer
Noted. Thanks for that. BlackCat ![]() Prediction is hard. Especially the future. |

I've had a bit of a look at some Cheltenham races and given them my version of VDW methodology ( excludes form figs).
Ideally, I'd wait till the day of the race and check other things like speed, RPR etc, but I found these preliminary selections interesting: Tues, Champion Hurdle MAC'S JOY ESSEX Al Eile Thurs, World Hurdle RULE SUPREME BARACOUDA No account of recent form has been made. |

"I understand your point, and it may seem paradoxical that we can have a class/form horse which proved to be outclassed", Fulham continues to be a great help to aspiring students of VDW and wins the biscuit with this latest and hopefully unsurpassable piece of tripe.
