Here`s my ratings for the next race at Newbury 3.55 in Racing Post F/C order.
Lovelace 87 93 Burning Incense 96* 104* Partners In Jazz 93 98 best (95) (104*) Jamison Gold 81 85 best (91) (96) Cape Of Luck 88 93 Folly Lodge 79 84
Although (BI) has the best recent figures im concerned that the trainer will be going for this a 12k prize after running so well in high prize races?. The same could be said for (PIJ). What do you think?.
The time to get on these top-rates is when you are sure the trainer wants the prize and the horse has it`s conditions. JD there were a few in the Hungerford today that were a bit better class than J.Hills horse and he had to concede weight to them. I never touched the race as Red Evie could`nt exactly be considered as in form but if she was ever going to have an opportunity to run to her best form then today was it.
They will need to be careful with the horse though m8 as there are marginals involved with this one. I.E. they do not have a lot to play with from a handicap sense and the horse is`nt the most straight forward at the business end.

True, he should have done a lot better over 6f at Windsor a couple of races back when he folded rather tamely.
One that certainly has a mind of its own is Skhilling Spirit - virtually refused to race yet again today. Certainly not one I'll be supporting any time soon.
Sorry, didn't see your post re 3.55 till just now. Regarding Dark Islander, he was taken out of an easier race earlier in the week because of the softening ground, so a little surprised to see him take his chance yesterday considering the rain. He's definitely much better than that.

Therein lays much of what VDW tried to show us: though not necessarily in that order. The conditions of the race are of vital importance.
JD in the Bath 4.30 I have Basaata top rated and with Tregonning being a pupil of Dick Herns i asume he will be going for the race. As far as i am aware the horse should be ok with race conditions so ive gone win and place at 2.90 and 1.42. There are a couple who may be improvers and the ratings might not show them up that`s why ive gone place as well.
Another thing that ive learned post race from the horses last post race report was that they think the horse will benefit from a drop back down to 7f. I was sloppy today did my ratings earlier in the day then settled down to watch the footy switched it over to catch the finish of the 4.00 at Bath and thought everything was hunky dory. Just shows ye .

Walter I didn't watch the race, but apparently there was a heavy storm before the race, and the official going was changed to g/s immediately after it. You would also have to wonder why a horse that didn't get home over a fast ground, sharp 8f, was running over a 8f course with a stiffer finish, and on softer ground?
